Hotel Leon d'Oro

About a 20 minute walk from the historic centre. Felt very safe walking there and back at night. 10 minute walk from train station.
On arrival, hotel looks very opulent and reception was grand. Reception staff were lovely and very professional. On closer inspection areas of the hotel looked tired and neglected. The fake grass outside was curling up, rubber seals around windows were hanging off. The room itself was okay. Mattress was very hard and the headboard was all scratched. I had bought a two prong plug which said Europe including Italy but it did not fit any socket in the room. The bathroom was dated, water from the shower leaked under the shower screen so much I thought it was going to go out into the hallway. The second day, on return from being out for the day and the bathroom having been cleaned I noticed the hinge on the lid of the toilet seat was broken and the tap behind the toilet seat had been turned off so no cold water to the sink. I managed to solve the problem! No tea/coffee facilities in the room. No major issues just shabby for the price of the room! However, the food at breakfast and the staff were fantastic. We had a meal in the hotel restaurant on our last night. Again lovely staff, the salad we bought to accompany the pasta dish was too big and one would have sufficed for the two of us. As it was late I felt rushed to order dessert before the kitchen closed...no menu was offered to choose from.. a dessert was suggested which was not very nice and was very expensive for what it was.
None of the above detracted from the stay overall. I probably wouldn't use the restaurant again for dinner but I would certainly stay there again.

Wonderful hotel! Interior design to die for. Staff were lovely. Rooms comfy. Lovely breakfast - every taste catered for. We really enjoyed our stay. 20 min walk into central Verona (slowly!). Highly recommend!

Booked this hotel for a good price in advance. Meets all expectations though the hotel itself is quite old but still good value for money. Best to book with breakfast included as it has a great selection. Room was ok, shower worked fine, not the best but did do the job.
The bed is comfy, clean , good size. Very happy there.
Please note, there are no tea/coffee facilities in the room. There is a fridge with drinks, but I would suggest to buy your own.
Only one electric socket found in the room so be aware to bring adapters etc for changing, as there are no usb ports anywhere.
The clientele in the hotel are mainly older people, which was great as there were no kids. Perfect for a couple holiday.
Walk to the center 20 min straight road. Just perfect.
Would I recommend? Definitely yes if you get a good deal.

Loved this hotel. Felt grand & opulent. Great rooms with big bathroom. Breakfast room was just beautiful & amazing selection of food. Staff are very kind & helpful.

+ Service was nice, stuff tried to solve my problem with wifi. Unfortunately, it was not successful.
- Wi-fi did not work at all. Connection losted every minute.
