Asia Hotels Group - Poonpetch Chiangmai in Chiang Mai

Checked in at 2:00 PM, but the room was still not ready. I had to wait another 20 minutes. The front desk staff looked annoyed and didn’t seem willing to answer how long it would take. My friends who checked in after 3:00 PM also had to wait for their rooms.

When I finally got into the room, I was very disappointed — there was a huge cockroach! I’ve never seen one this big before. 😖
There were no facial tissues provided either.

The walls are very thin — I could hear the housekeeping staff packing bags, the TV from next door, and even sounds from the neighboring bathroom. It was really hard to rest.

On top of that, the hotel is far from everything — not convenient to walk anywhere or find food nearby.

I don't know why this place has such a high rating. The hotel has rooms to the street and away from it. If you happen to have a room to the street it gets very loud. The balcony door is only for sliding and does not block the sound. The place was not well cleaned and you can see the dust on many places. Even the room got 'cleaned' (the bed was made). The wallpaper starts to go off in several places and there are water marks in the wall in the ceiling and below the air con. And on the toilet you can see a yellow dried line running down... Basics of cleaning not done.
The staff was friendly however, but they could not change our room because it was fully booked. We did not use the restaurant. Also (this is not a positive or negative point, just a fact) the restaurant is very far away from the city center. A tuk tuk wants to have 300-400 baht (during loy Kratong) to bring you there and some even refuse to get there because it is so far away. That also means you do not find a lot to go into the city
