Selectum Family Resort Side

Where do I even begin with Selectum? We checked in yesterday as part of a month’s stay in Turkey to celebrate our recent wedding, with our young son. We stayed in 2 hotels before this one and I have to say-this one has disappointed me the most! The first thing I noticed was the fact that there are no all inclusive bands to link us to the hotel which raises the issue of security! How do they monitor who is coming in and out of the hotel! With multiple entrances to the many pools and no security measures, anyone can walk in! Upon arrival on our first day, we walked right through to the restaurant area and not a single person questioned us. I asked to speak to the manager about this but he refused to come out- the lady on reception sent me to guest relations and they too didn’t know how to answer this- the guest relations manager also refusing to speak to me! They told me ‘we watch the security cameras and know our guests’ clearly they don’t as this is a HUGE resort with thousands of people and multiple arrivals at different times of the day. I will be keeping an extra close eye on my son and unable to relax at all with the recent news of attempted kidnappings and locals wondering into hotels, scoping out the children! Check in- In comparison to the previous hotels-this was dire! No organisation, no manners from staff or guests! People pushing in queues and staff just allowing it! My 7 year old got pushed around multiple times by grown men! There was no information about the hotel- times for food, slides, shuttles etc…. We weren’t even told which direction or floor our room was on. We had to take our own luggage and work it out ourselves. We emailed ahead of our stay to request a pool or sea view room as we saw they provide a honeymoon concept on their website which states they will provide a special welcome and escort to the room, provide a room upgrade, a specially decorated room with flowers, chocolates, fruit and champagne, breakfast in the room and dinner in the A la carte restaurant- unfortunately this didn't come through! We got a nice little display on the bed and a bottle of sparking wine but that was all! The room with a view would've outdone any towel display and wine! We're facing the other side of the hotel and a view of the roof! Lovely! The AC in the rooms and around the hotel is non existent! Systems must be ancient as they can’t function properly and sitting in the rooms, we’re melting. Today they had jet ski aqua display (show) where they cleared the pool for around an hour whilst they set up, getting angry at guests trying to cool themselves by putting their legs into the water. Following this; there was a ‘foam party’ where the DJ was unbelievably controlling, asking people to stand in lines and saying ‘until you’re in lines, there will be no party!’ I didn’t see a smile on a single guests face! Very Disappointing Stay – Not Worth the 5 Stars

We had a very disappointing experience at Selectum Family Resort Side. The hotel is very old and clearly not renovated, despite what travel agencies claim. Cleanliness was a serious issue: there was a constant bad smell throughout the hotel, and our room had a strong moldy odor. Some areas didn’t have functioning air conditioning, which made it hard to stay indoors during the summer heat.

The pools at the Aqua Park were overcrowded and smelled like urine — a clear sign of poor maintenance. The food was repetitive, lacked any real taste, and felt low-quality for a supposed 5-star hotel. The dining area also had many flies, which made eating unpleasant. Dishes were sometimes dirty, with leftover food stuck on them, and the juice dispensers and coffee machines looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in ages.

The only two things we enjoyed were the beautiful sea and the entertainment activities.

Overall, this resort is far below modern standards and not worth the money. I would not recommend staying here.
