Boutique Hotel Saint Nikola Boyana in Sofia

Room with bad smell (like the smell of tobacco was retained in the walls for years), I am a non smoker, aspect that make sleep very unconfortable. The interior of the building was dark with no natural light, a little bit strage decoration with remains of s former game room like ( no good vibe for me). In addition, all night i heard something beeping in the hallway, very annoying. Bad communication with the staff, not necessary interested in offering a pleasant stay to the customers. I do not recommend.

Boutique Hotel Saint Nikola Boyana was located in a residential area in the Vitosha district on the outskirts of central Sofia. There were no public transport stops near the hotel, making it difficult for guests to visit the city center without the use of a car or taxi. There were also no shops or restaurants in the immediate vicinity of the hotel. On arrival, the main door of the hotel was closed and it took some time before we got in touch with a female employee who showed us a door at the back of the hotel where we could enter. The reception seemed to be unmanned almost around the clock and we met several guests who were looking for staff to answer questions, check in or check out. We also experienced ourselves that it was difficult to get in touch with the employees. The guest room was large and furnished in a sumptuous baroque-inspired style. The cleanliness and maintenance were generally good, but with some exceptions. The guest room had its own sitting area, fridge, double bed and air conditioning. The air conditioning system worked, but did not manage to cool the room on the hottest days. The bathroom was spotlessly clean and consisted of a toilet, bidet, sink and shower. However, the shower was located in the middle of the bathroom without any kind of divider or shower curtain, which meant that the entire bathroom got wet when you showered. This was perceived as an unsuitable solution. The towels were clean and in good condition. There was free wireless network throughout the hotel, but we found that the signal in the guest room was somewhat unstable. The hotel's restaurant was closed and according to the employees, it was uncertain whether the restaurant would open again. Breakfast was served between 09:00 and 10:00 and consisted of a plate of omelette, cheese, butter, honey, toast, a glass of water and coffee or tea. The breakfast was experienced as somewhat spartan and we missed a menu with a few more options and the option of a glass of juice or milk. The breakfast service should also have opened at 07:00 instead of 09:00 The employees were not very present and difficult to find, there was also a lack of a basic understanding of service, which is important when working in the hotel and restaurant industry. Based on this, the complicated route to the center and a poorly varied breakfast, we would therefore not stay overnight at the place again and cannot recommend the place to others either.

Restaurant doesn't open, no bar, credit card payment is problematic, rooms looks better on the pictures, bad surprise in reality
