Melia Dusseldorf

We stayed for one night at the Meliá Düsseldorf in a 'park view' room. The app based electronic check-in didn't really work as at the end we were required to sign a guest paper and this was only possible at the hotel, so not much point in doing the app-based check-in. We had to get the keys re-programmed for our fifth floor room as they would not unlock the door at first. So check-in took a bit longer than really desired. The room was OK, it did indeed have a view of the park next to the hotel. The park itself is very nice with many animals (mostly rabbits) running around - it was a very pleasant walk in the evening. The hotel is positioned as 'Premium' rather than 'Luxury', and I would say that is a reasonable light in which to set expectations. Everything was generally OK rather than excellent. The room seemed clean and fairly modern. I personally would have liked a walk-in shower rather than an over-bath shower; but perhaps that's in the 'Luxury' section (I would not have said so myself). The breakfast was fine, not the widest choice but OK. I didn't like having to pay for water in the room - I really think a small bottle should be complementary. I'm not sure I would choose to stay here again if I could find a better looking alternative. The park next door is the real selling point for this hotel.
