Fantastic buffet dinner! Comfortable beds. Staff very friendly!

We have spent 3 days in the hotel Hammersbach this March. The surroundings are incredibly beautiful and the hotel is Bavarian cozy. We have really enjoyed our stay!
We lived in Alpspitz Haus where you can stay if you are visiting with a dog🐶
+ The room was comfortable and warm (it was -9 one night but we didn't even have to turn on the heater)
+ Beds are really comfy and so are pillows (rarity!)
+ You are allowed to take your dog to breakfast/dinner in one specific restaurant area (Kaminbar)
+ The wellness has multiple saunas and a swimming pool with warm (also a rarity!) water, it was not overcrowded
+ Breakfast buffet is diverse and delicious (mmm!)
+ Our package included a 4-course Candlelight dinner, it was very romantic, nicely presented and delicious
+ Staff in the hotel is very friendly and attentive
+ Zugspitze and Eibsee are just 10 minutes drive away
- Dinner buffet was a bit boring, the food was good but a bit too simple for our taste and repetitive
- Well yeah, you need to pay 10,50€ per night for parking...

Horrible service! 1. Dirty pillow in the room 2. The cook in the restaurant rejected to cook the omelette even at 10.00 am, the restaurant for breakfast is open till 10.30. Also she throw the plate during communication with me, it made a lot of noise. It was very aggressive. 3. On the reception we were not explained clearly how to find our room in third building. We were looking for it in the dark and didn’t know that there are too entrances, so it took a lot of time with heavy baggage and dog… I put the star only for location.

We stayed at Berg Hotel Hammersbach for two nights and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the meals. While the selection isn’t extensive, there is something for everyone—whether you’re vegan, vegetarian, or a non-vegetarian. Despite the limited options, the dishes were prepared with care and passion rather than just being put together hastily. Additionally, the service was excellent, with friendly and attentive waitstaff.
The room and bed were also very comfortable, making for a relaxing stay.
On the downside, the additional parking fee felt unnecessary, especially given that there are no free parking alternatives nearby. Since the hotel is located outside the city, it would be a nice gesture to either include parking in the room rate or offer it for free.
Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel—it’s one of the best places I’ve stayed in Garmisch.

Friendly staff and very good service all in all! It is a very big hotel quite different to what is described online, but in the end, we were very satisfied with our stay! It has a very good connection to all the local small villages with the little train.

When we arrived, we waited for the bus for two hours, but it never stopped because it was full. So, we decided to walk to the hotel, and it turned out to be very far—an hour and a half walk, to be exact.
The receptionist wasn’t exactly welcoming. I mentioned our long walk, and she casually said, “You should’ve taken the bus!” (As if we hadn’t thought of that!) She added, “Oh, it’s not far,” which, after walking for 90 minutes, felt like a cruel joke. What made it worse was her obvious shock when I mentioned that my husband and I were together. The fact that we’re from different ethnicities—I’m dark-skinned, and he’s white—seemed to really surprise her, which was incredibly disappointing and hurtful.
Now, about the transportation: if you’re not driving, be prepared for buses and trains that come once an hour, always late, and always packed. And let me warn you—there’s absolutely nothing near the hotel. Garmisch-Partenkirchen is an hour’s walk away, so unless you bring a car, you’ll spend your trip either waiting endlessly for the bus or train or hiking your way to civilization. Honestly, if you’re planning a short trip, you might spend more time waiting than sightseeing.
On the bright side, the restaurant was great, and the staff of the restaurant there were very friendly—so at least there’s that!

The front desk person was Asian and didn’t understand English. He advised our rooms were adjoining but I don’t think he knew what the word meant.
