Reviews
We were drawn to the location, contemporary design and to the sustainable, organic philosophy. The location on a side street off Gran Via proved to be excellent. We chose the option to have breakfast included in the rate. The quality of the breakfast selections was very good and the service from breakfast staff friendly and attentive. The entrance area and adjacent bar had an appealing, contemporary appearance. One bar staff member was extremely hospitable and the other not so.
The Delux room was very clean but not at all comfortable for a December stay. The room had a twin bed configuration and the bed coverings were cotton (or similar summer weigh). Nothing was mentioned during the reservation or at check-in that the room had twin beds. When I asked about changing to a room with a double bed (or pushing the two single beds together and remaking it as a double) it was explained that this was not possible. It was further explained that the hotel had a limited number of rooms with double beds and that once these rooms had been assigned, guests were assigned a room with twin beds. We arrived before lunch but were assigned the latter. It was an uncomfortable three nights.
The reception staff were very professional in appearance but lacked warmth.. We had several interactions with different staff during our stay. (We are experienced travelers and are careful to never be demanding. If we have an issue we believe that we can achieve a better outcome by being reasonable and pleasant to staff.) Apart from asking for the bed configuration to be changed, our interactions were mostly to ask for information. In all cases, the interactions lacked warmth and interest (even feigned).
As mentioned, the location was excellent and the appearance had a cool vibe which promised a much better experience. Unfortunately this was not the reality, so we will look for different accommodation in Madrid for our next stay.
The only thing about the room is, there isn’t any comfortable sofa seat or arm chair that you can rest on without dirtying the bed.
Also, it’s cold at 11 degree, but you have to request for blanket. The room doesn’t comes with any blanket if you do not request for it. It’s weird.
Overall, ok with the hotel
Rooms are less spacious than in the pictures.
Well located.
