I had an absolutely horrible experience at NH Madrid Paseo de la Habana, and I feel it’s important to share so others avoid this nightmare.
I paid 315 Euros per night for a room that was nothing short of a disaster. Upon arrival, I was given a room with non-functional ventilation and windows that wouldn't open. Making it impossible to get any fresh air. After complaining, I was moved to another room, but this one was equally bad. The ventilation didn’t work either, and the room temperature was higher than outside. When I raised this issue, the staff said they would fix it — but their solution was to open the window while I was away, which I found completely unacceptable.
The real shock came during the night when I suddenly woke up feeling something moving on my body. To my horror, I discovered that a lizard had gotten into the room and was crawling on my bed. This was beyond disgusting and terrifying. When I complained, the staff couldn’t even understand English, making it even more frustrating.
Since I booked through Hotels.com, I reached out to them to try and resolve the situation, but the hotel staff was of no help whatsoever. This experience has made me seriously question why I chose to stay at NH Madrid Paseo de la Habana. The lack of proper maintenance, unhelpful staff, and the shocking incident with the lizard left me traumatized. At 315 Euros per night, I expected far better. I will never stay at this hotel again and strongly advise others to avoid it.
