Hotel Nuevo Madrid

I don’t know what’s 4 stars about this hotel. Its a sad place before you even enter its looks like an abandoned building.
The reception is not welcoming at all, no music no where in the hotel its like a clean hospital.
In the room I have found the smallest TV I have seen in my life.
The breakfast is about fine, hot dishes are really cold though.
About the informations, better read their documents twice and never depend on reception, they’re not responsible of what they say.

The room was not what I booked.
The bed is tiny and broken, which means its noisy with the slightest move. All the other rooms seems to be much bigger with a proper size bed. If I was the rate this hotel I would say 2 star, we are actually checking out early to move to another hotel.

I had a very bad experience at this hotel:
- Check in time takes forever, no consistency in level of service: People came way after me and managed to get a room. I only managed to do the check-in after i complained.
- The room i got is on the side of the road, not ideal for light sleepers
- The hotel is not well connected to public transportation
- Toilet has brown water including the shower, when i asked i was told that it's the case for all Madrid :D
All in all, if you are in Madrid for tourism, run with your life

Looking this hotel up online, it looks very nice and has decent reviews with some one offs stating some negative responses, however any of the negative responses after staying there have been spot on but for the quality of service. Whoever cleans the room, cleans it better than most hotels I have been in, but it does not save it from the drab and fading interior. Lamp shades were torn, paint peeling, pillows and the bed sheets are like sheets wrapped around them but not fitted to them so any movement requires and entire refit on the duvet, mattress, and pillows. The rooms smells slightly moldy, thankfully there are nice big windows that can open to ventilate the room properly. The reception was spot on and curious even though I arrived a bit early, they took my bags made sure my requests were met and I went in with my day. So the staff are very accommodating and polite which can always be hit and miss. In addition to this, because of my frustration with pillows they happily obliged us with more to make it more accomodating. Since we then arrived back to the hotel late, we were subjected to getting some bar food, which was illprepared and looked premade and reheated. I know hotels can't always have kitchen staff waiting, however they are providing a service and this hotel is large enough where this should not be an issue.
