We only stayed for one night, at the start of our road trip.
We had a very nice room, with all amenities that we needed. The view was special.
Service lived up to the expectations that come with the brand. We had food and drink outside on the terrace and the quality of the food and the setting were enjoyable.
We drove from the airport is twenty minutes and the hotel was easy to find.
The only caution I would give is that there is not much in easy walking distance.

A lovely hotel with views over the bay. Staff friendly. Food is very good in the restaurant but beware the portions are big.

The location is beautiful, perched atop the city with wonderful views! The hotel offers good quality accommodations, amenities and meals.

The rooms and hallways could use a little freshening up with a few modern touches to make the place more chic, but it is still very nice, clean and all that!

I highly recommend for a few days.

This Parador just doesn't quite live up to its potential. It's beautifully situated up on a hilltop overlooking the city of Malaga and the port and coast - and the building itself has great potential, but the Parador is showing its age a little and the service is a little unpredictable. Certainly, the restaurant offered good regional food and great service, but other things needed tending to. The swimming pool is not big enough for the number of guests staying at the hotel so very often we saw guests arrive for a swim, look around and just turn away in disappointment at the lack of seating and general space. The veranda bar was very nice in appearance but the waiters a little cold and uninterested and service could be slow. The small front desk area was often busy and required guests to wait more than several minutes. All that said, the hotel has retained a certain quaintness that we enjoyed and the take-home message in booking the Parador is to keep one's expectations reasonable.

I stayed at the hotel for six nights in July 2024. The room was spacious and well-furnished, with a modern bathroom, small balcony and beautiful view. The daily house-keeping service was very good, and the rooftop pool was good. However, I wouldn't recommend the hotel for the following reasons:

1. There is no sound insulation, so it's not possible to get a good night's sleep. I could hear everything my neighbours above, below and on either side were doing - whether that was moving around, talking, having sex, watching TV etc. It felt like I was sharing the room with a lot of other people! On my last night, there was also a concert in the stadium below the hotel which lasted from mid-afternoon until midnight. Shutting the balcony doors had no effect.

2. The location means that you have to walk up a very steep hill to get back to the hotel from town. In my case, this was always in mid/late afternoon, when the heat was at its peak, after having spent several hours walking around, and having to carry anything I'd bought during the day. I then didn't fancy repeating the process in the evening, but there's nothing around the hotel, so the only option for an evening meal is the hotel restaurant or bar, both of which have a limited and unchanging menu.

The above two factors really affected my holiday - I would have been much better off in a centrally-located hotel, with good sound insulation and the town on my doorstep.

We stayed in room 109 (on Sunday 16 June) about 11:45 the room above started to move the furniture around, this went on for quite a while. If you want a good night's sleep, ask for a room on the third floor.
The bathroom was very tired and needed an upgrade, it was clean, the shower useless to use.
The breakfast was excellent, the views amazing from the restaurant.

Picasso resturanf service was one of the best in Spain. Portions were big and super delicious & fresh. It was amazing experience with top view from mountain. Thank you !

The hotel itself has a lot of charm despite being a little old and above all the view from above is magnificent but clearly the problem is the restaurant. First as a starter we are served scampi from which the gut has not been removed, you then bite into sand in abundance, suffice to say that it was infamous so ok in the end they didn't make me pay for it but my friend had to pay for him. Then two of my friends ordered the Arroz meloso de langostinos y chipirón con alioli de azafrán, it was way too salty and it was impossible to eat it. I told one of the waiters who really didn't care about this problem. Finally, the waiters were haughty, and rushed to kick us out because they were not discreet, I had the impression of being in a hidden camera in bad taste. Clearly, the staff of this restaurant are not up to the standard of this so-called 4-star hotel. In addition, we had requested a table on the terrace, but we were refused on site while 2 tables remained empty throughout the evening. The staff was in bad faith and really unprofessional. Same, when we arrived at the hotel, the lady at reception was very unpleasant and was in a hurry to get rid of us, when we checked out she wanted to make us pay for the room even though we had already paid for it via booking . The staff at this hotel are clearly not well trained in their profession, it's a shame for a 4 star hotel. For this I do not give this hotel 4 stars but 3 stars. So I don't think I will return to this hotel and next time I would go to the Gran Hotel Miramar because we paid too much for more than mediocre service without any compensation. This spoiled our stay so I will only give it 1 star.

Response to their comment: No, these are not dishes that we don't like and we have already eaten the same elsewhere. You are in bad faith and your establishment is very poorly managed. Who likes to eat sand tell me because I don't see who?? It's stupidity not to even recognize it and apologize, just like the too much salt in the rice, to believe that it was done on purpose. We are not the type to generally complain about trifles but here it's serious. I will send a complaint to the head office of Paradores de Turismo de España since you do not admit your mistakes and you are calling us liars. I'm sure they will be delighted to have our report.

We walked up and back one evening from the Old City to eat dinner at the restaurant. Spectacular location and views, but the meal was disappointing. Portions were small and seemed relatively expensive compared to eating in the town. The delicate sea bass was particularly overpowered. The restaurant seemed under staffed for the number of covers.
We would certainly recommend, however, visiting the downstairs bar veranda area for a drink whilst enjoying the wonderful views after a walk up.

An amazing restaurant with exceptional food and service. The views were beautiful, and our servers were brilliant, including Javier Sami and the team. It was worth every penny. Thank you all for a fantastic Easter Sunday meal! Highly recommend!
