Great affordable place to act as a base while in Herlakion. Rooms are not the fanciest in the world, but the air conditioning worked, the beds were clean, and the breakfast was included. Can't complain.

This place offers an excellent value for the price! The location is 2 mins walk from the Venetian waterfront, fort, walkway and excellent restaurants as well as 10 mins from the airport for convenience. Room was clean and comfortable. I have been coming here for several years and always found the same warm welcome. Not to speak of the super convenient location not far from the airport for overnight stays. The recent refurbishment is a welcome upgrade too. My only regret is that the snack bar has given in to the regrettable requirement for. Pizza and burgers instead of Greek food. Friendly staff, comfortable rooms, good breakfast in the morning. Location really convenient, close to the airport. A little tricky to get to on foot if you have luggage with you, however. If you have luggage, I'd recommend taking a taxi. Would definitely stay again.

Tucked nearby main shopping and not too far from bus station. This is easily walkable from the port. Staff was extra helpful in guiding us to local restaurant options, bus transit, and general information. Morning buffet breakfast was delicious and plentiful.

Staff do not respect the “do not disturb” light. They don’t use those door cards, so there is no other way to let them know. I’m glad I didn’t leave any cash out where it could have been mistaken as a tip

We liked basically everything. The location is very good: it is near to restaurants and shops, to the beach and to the bus. The facilities: the kitchenette, the small playground for children, the pool which was clean and nice. The staff is very nice and helpful.

We had a day room before our late flight departure. The hotel definitely needs reservations. The rooms are basic, but clean and spacious. We really liked the pool, probably the best pool for doing laps in the area. There is plenty of parking. Also not far from the beach and few of restaurants in the vicinity. A real value for money.

We stayed at Vanisko Hotel for 3 nights. Everything about our experience was wonderful. The buffet breakfast was magnificent - fruit, vegetables, cheese, pastries, coffee, juice all the best quality. Came from England for a week in Hotel Vanisko with family, a luxury feel as soon as you step into the hotel. Very clean, spotless in the lounge as well as the room which had clean sheets regularly, breakfast was delicious and staff were incredibly friendly. There was a very large swimming pool area as well. We originally booked to stay at another hotel in the area and were redirected here last minute - so we were a little worried as we didn’t pick it ourselves! However the rooms are very modern and newly renovated. We found the double bed comfy too, which was a relief! Many reviews said they were two singles pushed together and always split with a gap down the middle - but ours was a proper double bed...

It was our first time in Crete and I had the most amazing time at Castro hotel and thanks to their friendly staff our vacation was without a doubt the best experience we could have had.I recommends Castro hotel from the bottom of my heart! The staff was very nice. The room and the bathroom were clean. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was also great and with a nice view. The bathroom looks a bit older. Probably they renovated only the rooms. The air-conditioning was working a bit strange, maybe had some technical issue.

The hotel is a bit off the pedestrian city center but within walking distance to the bus stop to Knossos and the main bus station. The breakfast is served on the sixth floor with nice views of the port. Unfortunately, the breakfast room is not open-air, and there is freezing air conditioning. Nice breakfast, instead of the usual Lipton tea they offer a wide range of teapigs flavours, a very good brand...

We had a wonderful time. The hotel is well located, closer to the airport and port as well as walking distance from main attractions of the city. Rooms are a bit small but great value for money.
