The great service we experienced started as soon as we arrived with help getting luggage out and valet parking of hire car. This was very welcoming after having driven from Chania Airport to a strange place

When we checked in they had upgraded us which was a very pleasant surprise. We had already booked a harbour view room but room we got was bigger than expected still having that view. The only downside was the airport

It's almost directly underneath the flight path with planes taking off throughout day and night. The breakfasts are wonderful with a wide selection of fresh foods

We were seven people in our group. We had an amazing stay over here very recently. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Though rooms are a bit small for our liking, they’re very nicely decorated

The location is very good, quite close to the airport, walking distance from the city center and the archaeological museum. Driving distance is not far from Knossos

Stayed here as part of a tour vacation on Crete. Really enjoyed the stay and location. Short walk to town shops and restaurants. Also great pizza place next door to hotel, with a stop.

Capsis Astoria is a great hotel centrally located in Heraklion. The rooms are comfortable and we liked our balcony

The hotel has good rooms with a fantastic breakfast and decent location. We did have one major issue with a school group that ran up and down the halls all night, banging on the doors, screaming and slamming doors

It was extremely noisy. Insulation is very poor and the room was directly on the round about. Traffic was dense until 1.30am.

The hotel is situated close to the commercial center, old harbour and new harbour. It has stores around and important seight seeing points

The beach is a little far away but you can get there with the bus ( 20 min) and the bus stops are conveniently situated next to the hotel

My wife and I traveled around Crete for two weeks and this was our favorite hotel of the entire trip. It’s cozy, historic and luxurious. Their breakfast was also possibly the best hotel breakfast we’ve had anywhere.

The rooms are actually nice and new. The pool looked nice too but it was closed due to bad weather. Good location and lovely staff here. The man coming in our room was probably an exception but it did really upset us

just had 2 weeks at the hotel Castro-we arrived around midnight but was still offered a meal- with me being in a wheelchair I requested a ground floor pool view and that's what we got- the air con didn't work but he sorted it out there and then-clean towels and sheets daily- food was lovely- cant understand anyone complaining-if I didn't feel like a hot meal they would do me something else all we had...

A wonderful week at Castro hotel. The rooms are clean, the staff is kind and helpful whenever is needed. Everyone is smiling and it is the perfect location for families

I booked a half-board arrangement (so breakfast and dinner) and while breakfast wasn't the most exciting (mostly due to my own preferences, they had different items available, I am just a bit picky when it comes to breakfast), dinner was served from the menu of the excellent attached restaurant (restaurant Maxim)

During breakfast there may be cats visiting to say hi, during dinner we had free fruits and shots of raki. The staff were always smiling, and they were very kind, very welcoming atmosphere and we felt welcome as well

We have been at Marirena Hotel just some days ago and I would like to underline that everything was perfect. I was surprised because lots of people sent descriptions that are not real

The Marin Hotel is located near the ruins of the ancient city, close to the city center, and has excellent accommodation. It is very convenient to eat and shop nearby

The location is in front of the port, so you can walk there after getting off at the port. The airport will call you a taxi for 15 euros, and there is no coffee pot in the room.

Perfect location for us as we want something in the city centre and also close to the bus station. Good breakfast!

If your flight gets cancelled and you're reading this review, the hotel isn't all that bad. The staff were nice and so was the food. Be sure to take a trip to the supermarket opposite as they had some amazing cheap food

I know that many of the people leaving 1* reviews were likely frustrated from having flights cancelled, and most had been experiencing much more lavish accommodation on their holiday, but the Vanisko Hotel really isn't as awful are people are making out, and it was certainly nice to be somewhere where we could rest and relax for a few hours after the stress of the day before

The bus stop is in front of the hotel, easy to get to the city centre (bus 1 and 20) and back (bus 6). Short walk to the public beach. The best advantage were early breakfast hours (7-10)

The pool was also nice, not many people there and suprisingly I couldn't hear the traffic from the street that much

There was little friendliness and service from the first man we met at reception. There was another one later that was a little more pleasant, but overall a hotel I will avoid the next time.

Budget hotel. Clean, central for Heraklion Town. Bit noisy at night, but it can't be helped as you are smack in the centre of town.Good value for money.

Overall, you get what you pay for. If you need a hotel for one night definitely not a bad option, as it located very centrally and only 15 min by car from / to the airport (taxi is €20)

I found it to be good value and for 2 star hotel it was great! My balcony had double glazed door so I could look out at the bustle below or close it and have quiet

We stayed for 1 day, the room was stuffy with an air-con that on full speed didn’t do much. Surprisingly the bathroom was brand new, the rest of the room looked like it has seen better days

We had a balcony, but the room itself was very very small. There is a fridge and a safe in the room, but you have to leave your room keys at the reception

Context for rating to balance the 5 star reviews. It’s self service studios which are nicely appointed and only partially manned reception. Only stayed overnight so I could catch an early flight the next day

The streets to get there are pretty narrow and the area around the hotel looks a bit shady at night (pretty dark alleys, abandoned houses). But in daylight you see that it is just a normal residential area

New hotel nestled in a fascinating area of the center just walking distance from busier shopping area. The room is well designed and has it all. Parking is very precious in this area

One thing to note though, Google maps will try to take you through impassible streets, so make sure you keep an eye out for the signs they have posted in the area!

The gentleman at the reception was extremely helpful on many occasions, even giving up his parking spot on a busy night

Great Hotel Atrion Hotel was excellent. Beautiful hotel with great access to town. The staff was also super helpful with arranging transport for excursions and answering any questions.

3 minutes to the beach: ammos beach bar sells TWO sunbeds and umbrella for 3€ daily - incredible. There are also pavillons for 10€, and you get fruits, juice and water. Some nice restaurants and shops around

Pool bar was open every day (serving drinks, Greek snacks, icecream, coffee; also pasta), and VERY cheap: ouzo 1,50€ ? Pool open from 1000-2000, no night swimming, quite common times

Lovely quiet place, ideal for family. Cozy place. Friendly and kind stuff. Clear rooms. The street is really noisy, but it wasn't problem for us :). Just enjoy everything else!
