Five stars for the excellent central location and for the excellent breakfast! The woman catering our breakfast is so sweet and hardworking and they have an assortment of, yes, freshly squeezed orange juice, an assortment of Greek mezédes, on demand specialty pancake station, café machines for your choice coffee, pastries, fresh fruit, fresh customizable yogurt parfaits, American bfast options like scrambled eggs and sausage...etc etc. Sleeping can be loudish as every corridor echoes with no soundproofing and perhaps some unruly Americans no doubt making a ruckus...otherwise, it's lovely.

The Hotel location is very close to the city center, breakfast is tasty and fresh,rooms are clean and modern, bed is very comfortable. There is an arrangement for a daily parking 1 minute walking from the hotel for 12€ daily..sure we will come again.

The Kastro Hotel does not deserve its "fabulous" rating on Booking at all. The rooms are poorly soundproofed, and we were disturbed by noise from neighboring rooms as well as from airplanes. The photos showing a terrace and city view are not reflecting the reality of the rooms. We were given a very simple and cramped room with no outdoor space.
However, its central location is convenient, the staff is friendly, and the breakfast is satisfactory.

Wonderful modern hotel with responsive 24/7 staff. Rooms are perfectly clean, well-designed, roomy for 2 people, great water pressure in the bathroom, and quite a luxurious feel for the price. We stayed in the top floor so we had direct access to the roof deck. Easily walkable from center City and the main attractions in Heraklion. 18€ taxi from the airport. Breakfast is included and quite decent. Bonus - luggage storage and an elevator! Only downside is you can hear the airplanes at all hours taking off from Herkalion, even with ear plugs.

Lovely hotel at a fine location nearby the town centre. There are restaurants, grocery stores and shopping districts in walking distance. I arrived to the city via the bus from Chania and left the city via ferry via the harbour. although not exactly short distance but they are walkable. it is a relatively busy city and many popular restaurants are very occupied during the weekend.

Great 3 star hotel! Well appointed and honest offering. Good and versatile breakfast. Friendly, hospitable staff. Close to the water front and restaurants. Recommended.

Very nice place and very modern not to mention the great breakfast. My wife and stayed there for 2 nights and we needed a place close to everything and this was. I want to thank Helena for all her help and answering our daily 100 questions about where to go and what to do.

It feels like a European business hotel. It's not very big, but it has everything you need, it's great for exploring the old town, and they provide breakfast, so I had a great rest.

Perfectly fine hotel in the city center, with a good breakfast service. Room was clean. I did find some mold in the shower.
For those with a vehicle, the roads near hotel are very tight with very limited parking available. Advise using a paid parking lot nearby.

The room, the staff, the location all are really nice.
However, we stayed on the top floor and the whole afternoon and the next morning starting at 8 AM, there was loud drilling and hammering due to roof renovations.
When we complained to the receptionist, she said “sorry” and mentioned that “they should have started at 9AM, not at 8”.
Well, drilling and hammering at 9AM in the morning on a Saturday is still not the way to wake up someone paying full price for a room. There should have been a discount, or even better, we should have been informed in time about the renovation so we could choose a different hotel.
If I wanted to wake up to the sound of renovation, I could have stayed home for free.
