Hotel Brascos

I made the mistake of not refering to Google Reviews before booking.

The service and employees were kind and the location was great, with a close distance to shops, the old town and the beach.

My room and the other facilities were however in horrendous condition. The ceiling in my room was on the verge of collapsing and dust would spread down to the apartment. I am pretty sure the entire room was water damaged and you could smell the moistness of the wall and ceiling. The bathroom drains were clogged, so showering more than 2 minutes would lead to the drain water spreading all over the bathroom floor. The pool looked like it had not been properly cleaned in months.

I cannot recommend Brascos Hotel to anyone, unfortunately.

Sum-up: Do not go there, their pictures are clearly misleading.

Booked via booking, room on the 2nd floor. Maybe prepaiment gives you the worst experience...
-The pool is unuseable, there are broken slates on the ground
-The rooftop Bar is closed since longer, used as a room for trash (See pictures)
-The breakfast is not good
-The rooms are miserably old and not maintained in ANY way. The ac is too weak, the bath is disgustingly old, do not trust any picture posted by the hotel, check the customer Photos...
Please, dont let your money there, we left a day early and wasted a paied day because we could not stand it. 10 days on crete and this is by far the worst room.

As soon as we walked into the hotel we felt we had made a mistake after the receptionist seemed shocked that we'd booked to stay for two weeks. After waiting for about 5 minutes for the lift to reach our floor we made it to our room. The first thing of note was the ceiling as soon as you walk into the room was on the verge of collapse. Several pieces of toilet paper were also seen stuck in the cracks of the ceiling. The balcony pictured on the hotel website made it seem as if you could happily dine on it. We were greeted with dirty plastic chairs and a table. It took the hotel almost a week to give us a shower mat so we were using hand towels for several days. The poorly fitted shower curtain would block the drain and allow water to pass through the sides, leaving the room flooded every time the shower was used. One of the main selling points when we booked the hotel was the rooftop bar. As soon as we walked in there was signs plastered around saying it was temporarily closed. We asked the hotel staff why it was closed and when it would reopen, their response was: "I don't why, it's the owner's decision." The fact it was closed was not stated on their website when we booked. The location is one of the redeeming factors of the hotel being a short walk away from the beach, shops, and the Old Town.

Smells unpleasant directly on the way in the room when you open the door. Towels had aome stains not washed properly and their smell...fresh is something else....Not the best....

Hi, from the outside the hotel looked modern (3 stars). The room, however, didn't deserve a star. I had room 107 directly above the entrance (the rooms on the higher floors have a small balcony). The car noise from the main road was very disturbing. The mattresses were new, but extremely soft, so I put the mattress on the floor. It was hard to get into the bathroom because the door hit the sink. The roof terrace was also closed. The price-performance ratio was not right. I won't be coming back. I can't say whether the rooms on the upper floors are better. Best wishes from Hamburg, kv

The worst unfortunately! Only the staff was kind at the reception, but I never recommend it to anyone.. 39€ for a room with a moldy ceiling.. the bathroom faucet was dripping with pieces of salt.. the towels smelled of moisture... and I found other people's hair on the towels! It is not possible for a hotel in the center of Rethymno to be so miserable, do renovations.. they will bring you some sanitary and run!!!! Not a single star...
