Large, spacious resort. We got a nice, cosy, traditionally-styled house a few steps from the pool. Unfortunately, WLAN and Internet did not work in the house and even not in front of it. Only some 20 steps away WLAN worked.

Being your own soap and shampoo. Very pet friendly offering different size dog cradles in multiple places while domestic cats are strolling around. Room safe are available. Google AI is blocking even simplest photographs like room safe. Wierd

I came here for a two night solo staycation and it was one of the best decisions I've made. I went for their "autumn relaxation package" which included the room, half-board, wifi, bicycle rental and use of wellness facilities, for a very friendly price! No reviews since 2018 . . . let's update things in November 2023. The entire hotel has been beautifully renovated and is worthy of a four star rating. The design and architecture are really super and they are currently building a new thermal water spa. All new furniture and great design everywhere. Good parking. HOWEVER . . . . whether Covid has hit them, or maybe they just can't get the right staff...

It's a big, busy (in August), probably late socialist-era resort hotel that's actually quite pleasant. And cheap. There's a holiday vibe. For an overnight stay it's excellent and I wouldn't have minded staying longer. I didn't try any of the many "health"/beauty treatments on offer but they're inexpensive. (The lifts/elevators are few and slow.)

You won't have any problems staying here. It's spacious enough for one person. There is a hairdryer and the shower is fine. No toothbrush provided. Luggage storage available. There is a currency exchange nearby. Near the tram station. There is no kettle in the room, but there is a microwave and kettle in the dining room on the 1st floor that you can use. We stayed on the top floor. Maybe because we checked in late, we were assigned a loft room. However, the area was good. There were two skylights in the room, which could not be opened or closed. A nice hotel located in one of the best cities in Hungary. The restaurant is cool, they have a gym and a spa area and a huge courtyard with a playground and sun beds. It's surrounded by the forest and there are a lot of beautiful places to visit around the hotel. Suitable for families mostly but would be good for couples as well.

Perfect retro experience. Medium size wellnes, some sauna, big outside park with outdoor pools. At every evening at dinner there is a man playing on electric piano. This place's stuck in the 70s.

Hard to rate it because of the huge contrasts. Unbelievably abundant and delicious food but totally worn-out and old infra everywhere. They just can't keep it clean. So the catering is 5 the infra is 1, the cleanliness is 2. The staff friendliness and helpfulness are 4.

Great hotel if you want to experience the spirit of the golden era. The hotel is an impressive building that unfolds many surprises, from an old abandoned section to what looks like a Russian elevator that can withstand an atomic blast. Great experience!

If you want to have a reminiscent experience in a old dated hotel, this is a must go! Plenty of abandoned sections of the building will make you feel as if you made a trip to Chernobyl. Some rooms are just falling apart while you can enjoy a minimum offer breakfast in a pretty impressive hall. My recommendation: go for it!

There is no doubt that the hotel is outdated, but it is super clean and the food is very nice and tasty. Service at the diner is half of the RB hotel price. Even if the hotel was stuck in the 80s, you would have a good time. The only downside is that with Freya Hotel, you do not get access to Thermal World.

Came with a tour group, sharing with one other traveller, room + balcony allow for plenty of space. The renovated rooms have ultra modern bathrooms. The bar out back was the perfect way to end the trip. Super close to public transport, which attracts a sketch crowd at night however no issues as they have an overnight security guard

The location was perfect for us as we used only public transports to and from the airport, the city center and the Ferencvaros training center where we played in a tournament. Was here on a group travel program. While the rooms were nice, this hotel was incredibly understaffed. My friend waited 25 minutes on a Saturday night to pay for a bottle of water at the front desk. The next morning, I tried to fill up my water bottle before a long journey at the machine in the breakfast room and was chastised by a waiter, which left a sour taste in my mouth at the end of my stay....

I booked a small twin-bed room, and it was an incredibly comfortable stay. The room is very clean with water and small toiletries. It has everyone you need, and the staff were very kind. I had a delicious breakfast that included homemade jam and avocado spreads. I would highly recommend booking here if you visit Sopron!

Five stars for this hotel as my room was clean and cozy, and the hotel has a nice location by River Danube. The staff are the true gems in this hotel! Everyone at Reception went above and beyond their duties when I was in need for some ice to calm my knee pain. They were friendly, welcoming and resourceful at all times from check-in to check-out. The room ant the bathroom was spotless with the basic amenities you might need. The staff is super helpful; they prepared for us a lunch box as our flight was very early in the morning. I have stayed at this hotel several times before, and is my "go to" hotel in Budapest. On this occasion I was not able to stay at the hotel because of an urgent business issue requiring me to fly to Frankfurt immediately. The staff were excellent in helping me reschedule my pick up for the airport transfer, as well as allowing me access to the room (it was a none refundable booking) several hours...

The room is divided half with a door from other room, this is feels a bit unsafe. There was hair in shower. Dirty sheets. Average breakfast for value. Location is the best thing for this place. Close to public transportation and there are many restaurants and pubs around.

3 star hotel only. Cleaness and modern furniture will be the most concern for guests who are thinking of booking a room here. But the rooms are spacious indeed. It feels like we are living back to the Soviet era with timed old building and crack pattern street in front. And boild eggs with sausages will be your breakfast are main dishes for every morning you wake up and step in to the cafeteria.

The hotel is 500 meters from the bus station. It is an old-fashioned hotel. The shower head is like this. I can't take a shower. I didn't eat breakfast, so I don't know if it's delicious. It's OK in Budapest.

The location is great! If you came by car, the parking is at the basement and you will have direct acces with the elevator to reception desk. The rooms are nice, A/C is working all the time (we were in July), the beds are very confortable. They change our sheets every 2 days.

Whatever the price or star grading of a hotel there is no excuse for mould in the shower, a shower head that falls to the ground (had to hold it by hand) and spider webs on upper walls that have not been cleaned for months. Evidence that the one elevator has been out of order for long time. This hampers large tour groups accessing rooms efficiently. Good breakfast in hotel next door.

There star hotel, rooms are to be paid in advance, rooms are clean and have the feeling of the eighties (which reminded me of my childhood). Breakfast is OK, prices are low compared to other places so close to the lake Balaton.

Beautiful landscape, huge trees, green all over! Hotel rooms are not so nice. Beach is perfect! They charge you for dog 3000 Forints/night but you got nothing for your money! Dogs are not allowed on the beach, they have to be leashed everywhere. Lot of kids program, playground.

Budget hotel, don't expect too much. The hotel is in a quiet alley, and you have to climb a few stairs to get to the room, which is not very convenient. I booked a triple room, which is ok in size. The breakfast is average.

This hotel is very clean, modern and the location couldn't be better. All sights are within walking distance and the metro and bus stops too. In the morning a wide range of breakfast. The hotel room itself is very neat and has good air conditioning. All in all I could hardly find any negatives. For the price this is great.

The breakfast is 10,000 times better than the internet-famous restaurant next door. It's one kilometer to the train station and one kilometer to the Freedom Bridge. It's quite convenient.

The Food was excellent, there is even decent espresso at the included breakfast. The game room with bar look okay, but the pool tables are made of steel/a lot of metal and feel from the 1950s or earlier. They cost extra/frame, althogh at the reception we were told it is free. Well located hotel on main pedestrian street with pool and fitness of its own. Somehow the rooms were still not noisy while balcony door was open. The meals of day (breakfast and dinner) are well variable during longer stay (we had a 5-night vacation) and we did not get bored of "all the same on different days" meals - it was not the case here.

The nowadays Hotel Chesscom has come a long way from the previous Hostel/Guesthouse to nowadays offer a highly professional Hotel, friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms, strong and stable wifi. Excellent breakfast. Across the street from the 200E Bus service to the Airport. The smell from the canalisation in the bathroom is a little bit unpleasant at times.
