Reviews
Complex and room very clean.
Worst things for us were the fairly long trip from the airport - around 90 minutes and the music from the hotel next door, which plays over the top of the entertainment.
That being said, it was not the issue. The issue was that the staff was not very "welcoming," I would say more that they were mostly rude unless you tipped them. Even then, they will still be rude the next day unless you are willing to open your wallet.
The waitresses
In the restaurant, the waitresses are supposed to fill drinks and assist you once you are seated, and unfortunately, all of them were very rude unless you tipped them. In general, you need to run after them to get a glass of water with your meal.
The food. First 2 days it seemed very nice to have a restaurant with a lot of choices and theme nights, but by day 3 we realised that everything tastes the same, grills/pans are barely being cleaned, and most of the dairy/egg products are just standing in the open for 2-3 hours in the heat.
Room cleaning.
They clean rooms daily - again, nothing wow happens, or the mini bar is not filled unless you leave tips. We stayed in there for 7 days, and this is what we encountered:
- Pillows left on the floor
- No toilet paper - we needed to call reception for them to bring it
- Leaving the toilet brush in the toilet - not finishing the bathroom to clean till the end, and just leaving it like that.
- Sheets are not fitted on the bed; they use a single bed sheet for the double bed and don't cover both sides till the end. Hence, you end up with the sheet rolling around as it pleases because it is not folded underneath the mattress.
My wife got food poisoning (most likely salmonella) from the breakfast on our last day. Once we spoke with the staff for them to help us or atleast assist with late check-out so we can wait for out transfer to the airport the answer was - no, we are sorry. They didn't even ask how she is feeling or if she requires any assistance - couldn't care less when it is clear that their restoraunt is at fault. By their attitude, I assume that this kind of food poisoning is a common thing for them, and they were not surprised at all.
I do have to give them one thing - the entertainment programs in the evenings were very good, as they did invest in that and had some different performances every night. However, at the same time, the cocktails from the bar were bad, and the only drinkable thing was either a gin and tonic or a beer.
The Pool
The hotel has a quite large pool that is being used heavily. During our stay of 7 days we didn't see it cleaned once. In the evening, there are lights inside the pool, and you can actually see how murky and unclean the water is.
Bar on the Pier
This was the closest place to grab a drink if you are chilling on sunbeds that stretch into the sea on the pier. That being said, the person behind the bar would need to be fired ASAP. Not only was every single drink he made undrinkable, but his attitude was terrible, and he was very unpleasant to deal with. For example, you have seen a "piña colada" cocktail made with orange juice, a slice of lemon, and simply stirred? Plus, often when people were waiting at the bar, he was just sitting on his phone and ignoring them right there next to the bar.
Now, the last - the majority of hotel guests were Russians and Russian speakers. For us, it felt uncomfortable and unsettling since the entertainers were constantly encouraging them with phrases like "If you love Russia, put your hands up" or "Russia hands up," etc.
All in all, feel like we overpaid an extreme amount for the holiday in this hotel. Experience was very average and filled with disappointments, and I wouldn't recommend others to choose this hotel.
Overall, the hotel is very nice – high standard, varied food, excellent service, and fun attractions for both children and adults.
However, there is one major issue – the entire civilized world condemns Russia’s actions. I can understand that Turkey allows them in on a massive scale (because of money), but I cannot understand how the hotel openly permits the promotion of Putin.
During one of the evening events, T-shirts were being handed out on the main stage (anyone could buy one), and one of the Russian guests bought a shirt, had an image of Putin printed on it, and proudly displayed it to all the guests from the stage – I personally felt disgusted!
Because of the overwhelming presence of Russian tourists and the hotel seemingly being tailored to them, I strongly do not recommend this place to Poles or to any other nation from the civilized world – unless, of course, you love Putin.
