Reviews
We recently stayed at the Granada Luxury Beach Hotel in Antalya as a family of six: three adults, two 15-year-olds, and a 10-year-old. Overall, our experience was positive, but there were a few issues worth noting.
Upon arrival at around 8:30 PM, we were pleased with the smooth check-in process. The staff were efficient and accommodating, ensuring that our rooms were all on the same floor, which made things much easier for us. After check-in, we headed to dinner, where we were greeted with a huge variety of food. The options were plentiful and catered to all tastes, which was a great start to our stay.
Our rooms were spacious, clean, and the beds were incredibly comfortable. We were impressed by the daily cleaning service provided by the friendly housekeeping staff, who always ensured our rooms were spotless.
However, our experience by the pool was less than ideal. Despite the hotel’s policy that reserving sun loungers with towels is not allowed, this rule was not enforced. On our first full day, we unknowingly occupied three empty loungers, only to be approached hours later by a couple who claimed the loungers were theirs. They eventually backed down, but soon after, another couple made the same claim and became quite aggressive. To avoid further conflict, as they started pulling the towels from underneath us, we handed them the towels and ignored their behaviour, continuing to use the loungers.
Unfortunately, this wasn’t the end of it; yet another couple approached us with the same complaint. It seemed more than a coincidence, and it left us feeling quite uncomfortable, especially as we were the only people of colour at the hotel at that time. We noticed quite a few stares from other guests, which was unsettling, as though they had never seen people of colour before.
Elvira from guest relations was helpful, however. After hearing our side of the story and reviewing the CCTV footage, she apologised for the behaviour of the other guests and confirmed that we were in the right to occupy the empty loungers. Although her intervention was appreciated, the repeated incidents did put a damper on our pool experience.
The food, while plentiful, was somewhat repetitive throughout our stay. That said, there was always something to eat, and the drinks were freely flowing, contributing to a generally pleasant atmosphere. We were unsure about the advertised two à la carte restaurants, as they didn’t seem to stand out. On a positive note, the Turkish bath and massage were amazing.
The pool area was nice, with two water slides that kept the children entertained. We also spent a day at the pavilion, which was great for taking pictures, though perhaps not worth the extra expense.
The hotel’s location was a plus, with a bustling market right across the street, providing a convenient spot for shopping and exploring local culture. I used my Revolut card throughout our stay, but I would also advise having some cash on hand and exchanging it to Turkish Lira before arriving, as the exchange rates here are quite high.
Overall, I would still recommend the Granada Luxury Beach Hotel. While the issues with sun loungers and some of the behaviour we encountered were disappointing, the hotel itself was clean, comfortable, and offered a good selection of food and activities, including a games room and a cinema. The staff, though the majority were not fluent in English, did their best to be helpful, and we did have an enjoyable week here. With a few improvements, this could easily be an exceptional hotel.
Negatvive: focus on one nationality people, poor selection of food, language barrier, service overall
Positive: clean room, kind service in reception, luxury hotel design
