Hotel Montecito

We sat down at the lobby to eat something and talk. The receptionist then told us to go somewhere else because the lobby was not a restaurant or a place to hang out, that it was only for people who were waiting to check in.

In the middle of nowhere. Unfriendly staff. Very tired and tatty. I took one look and left to stay in a much nicer hotel in the center.

The rooms are very spatious and beds comfortable, but that's about it for positive aspects. The whole place is a bit run down, which wouldn't be a problem in itself, but paired with the fact that either our particular room hadn't been properly cleaned, or that's the job they generally do, it was quite disgusting. We'll never know, because it is definitely not a return for us. The toilet looked like someone had vomited in it and whipped it off themselves the best they could *shudder*, and there were strange stains on the table and on the sofa as well *uugghh* ). The only reason we even stayed was that we had arrived very late in the evening with a very tired child and we noticed everything after we had unpacked. We chose to thoroughly disinfect everywhere ourselves, and just go to sleep. The sheets actually seemed clean, but they were worn thin to the point where the pillow cases had holes in them. Breakfast was included, so we gave it a reluctant try. Unfortunately, pretty much everything was inedible. Nothing looked fresh or good quality, the scrambled eggs tasted like the oil had been reused countless times, there were stains on the table cloths and the actual restaurant smelled like cat urine (lots of cats outside, but... inside?!). The actual space has potential, but as it is now, we would never return and do not recommend it.

Although the staff were friendly and helpful the hotel itself is in dire need of a good clean up and refurbishment. Taps and shower caked in old scum. No plug in the basin and the reek of sewage coming from somewhere in the bathroom was awful. Bugs in the room ( silverfish) and stink bugs. Broken windows in various places and only one lift working. The curtains haven't been taken down and washed in years. Overall like a bad hostel in the 1970s. I paid for a superior room so dread to think what the basic rooms were like! The area is not near any shops apart from a Lidl 10 min walk away. Nothing to do or see. Pool bar closed, the outer area filthy too. Way too dated and faded. A washed out and dirty hotel but the pool seemed clean although I didn't use it. Will not stay here again. Regardless of star ratings a hotel should be clean.

A very dated hotel. Somewhere in the 70's. Had to get the cleaner to clean the room properly, on arrival, dinner is expensive for the quality and portion size. Donr even bother with breakfast, except that there is no where else to get breakfast without getting in a taxi.
I understand that Bulgaria is a poor country, but in Sofia, within 15 mins of the airport, this place needs raising to floor level and start again.
Very happy to have booked somewhere else for our return journey.
