The location was convenient but that's literally the only positive. Definitely avoid.
I am sure the hotel would be able to re-sell the room in that timescale.
Non-refundable is fine a week or so in advance but 6+ months in advance is poor.
The location is faultless right in the middle of the main part of Sofia you want to be in, but with resurant, bars parks and transport all on your doorstep.
Booked for a five night stay more than six months before and requested a quiet room on a high floor via Booking.com. The location of the hotel is handy to the sights and is on a quieter road. While the check in and housekeeping staff were friendly, the special request wasn't quite met though we reminded them of this and arrived after 12pm. We got a room on level 3 facing into a restaurant where there is noise coming from people talking and leaving. I agree with one recent reviewer here, the soundproofing is almost nonexistent, we constantly hear phone alarm ringing from another room from 7am, people closing doors or cupboards or windows and talking in the hallway. The safe didn't work and had to wait til the next day for a fix. The kettle didn't work but they eventually replaced it. Some routine QA check could have prevented this. The room is heated excessively in the winter the only way to cool down is to open the window like many other rooms I observed. We won't be back. And this has been a bit of a disappointment with our week-long visit to Sofia so far.
I would recommend asking reception the day before you want to leave to book the transfer to the airport - we tried to book it at ~10am for 5pm and was told there would be no availability. Taxis just didn’t turn up cos it was rush hour so had to get the metro - the staff helped direct us to this.
