Reviews
You can find in modern hotels here what anywhere else would be surplus electronics, if not vintage already.
With that, the place is fine.
I asked for bath tub and i also got that.
Only mistake you might make is it is the nearest to station but think and if needed block the chair at door and stay awake throughout your stay anytime anyone can barge in
Also everywhere are carpets, i dont want to even think when it was last timr properly washed and how many bacteria did it carried around halls and rooms.
The ordeal began at check-in when I handed over my brand-new British passport (blue cover) to register my details. To my shock, the receptionist entered my nationality as Iranian. When I asked her about this outrageous mistake, she replied dismissively, “You look Iranian.” Her response left me speechless. I explained, in perfect English, that I am British, holding a British passport, and have no connection to Iran. Yet, instead of correcting her mistake in the system, she lazily suggested that I cross it out on the paper and amend it myself.
This experience was not just insulting; it reeked of outright discrimination. Imagine if I were Iranian and held British nationality—how devastating would it be to face such judgment based purely on my appearance?
Unfortunately, this was just the beginning. When I entered the room, I discovered that the sink in the bathroom was completely blocked and wouldn’t drain. How could a hotel hand over a room to a guest without even ensuring basic functionality? I reported the issue to reception and went out for dinner, hoping it would be resolved upon my return.
Later that night, I turned on the heating at 11 PM, only to find myself waiting for hours with no warmth. The room remained icy cold. Exhausted, I fell asleep, only to wake up in the middle of the night—not because I’d had enough rest, but because the freezing temperatures were unbearable. To my horror, I realized the hotel controls the heating system and had turned it off during the night, leaving me to shiver in the cold.
When morning came, I went to reception to report this appalling experience. The receptionist blatantly denied any issues, insisting that the heating system was working fine. Another staff member promised to send someone to check, but of course, nothing was done.
This night was an ordeal of insult, freezing temperatures, and neglect. From the racism I experienced upon check-in to the sheer disregard for guest comfort, MERCURE hotel proved itself unworthy of any recommendation. I strongly advise anyone considering this hotel to look elsewhere—this was a nightmare I will never forget.
Location is handy for the train station but a long way from the old town. Trams and metro are good so you can get round that and if adventurous use the electric scooters
He was also having a smoke at the very front of the building door (which is not allowed by law as it needs to be 5m away from the entrance of the building) him smoking also doesn't give a good first impression when you are arriving 1am and there is a grumpy guy smoking at the front building.
Room it self is as it says on the tin ,nothing special to call out. Towels were very rough they definitely seen better days.
Didn't try the breakfast , but why blow 20-24 euro when there is plenty of options in the center or the station with much more to offer.
