Reviews
- Nice staff at the counter :)
Neutral:
- Location, if you need to be in that area, otherwise I would not choose it.
Negative:
- Breakfast: Takes forever, wayyy too expensive, understaffed, quality questionable
- Room: No curtains in room, just blinds. „Kitchen“ only includes a microwave, a fridge, some cutlery/dishes and a water cooker, no real place to cook something :/ I was so disappointed!
- Bathroom: Its so dark in there, probably designed by some dude… if you want to put on makeup, you might go out looking like a clown because you literally can’t see what you‘ve done to your face.
Big no for me, it was my first and last time there :/
1.No AC so it's really hot in here (it's 30-32 degrees outside and the sun blasts on the room the whole day). You can only crack the window open a tiny bit. You can't air out the room at all.
2. During the night you can't have the tiny window crack open because mosquitoes fly in and it's very loud from the street traffic and people drinking and screaming in the courtyard.
3. There are no curtains. There are only 3 roll blinds that have big gaps between them so you don't have any privacy with them open because you are surrounded by all glass offices. When you close the blinds at night then light still comes in. For the price, they could definitely afford some sheer privacy curtains for the day and a set of black out curtains for the night. There are eye masks in the room which by this heat are not even bearable.
4- mattress is ok but the bedding is not soft and whatever material it is, it retains the heat so I spent the nights sweating. Plus there is no flat sheet, you get winter thick comforters and it's 32 degrees outside! I had to take the comforter cover off and use it as a bed sheet. Pillows are terrible!
5- kitchenette is only a microwave and few dishes.
6- there was sooo much dust! Even the plates were covered. Under the bed is a nightmare. Disgusting dusty carpet. I kept sneezing from all the dust.
Overall, I wouldn't stay again or recommend without serious upgrades.
Hotel or apartment? Wasn't sure what to expect and had low expectations.
I was wrong on all accounts.
Modern, clean, great service, updated rooms and bathrooms, big windows, comfortable beds - even the soap smelled amazing.
We made one request on our reservation and it was honored without issues.
Check in and check out were quick and easy. There's a coffee shop and indian restaurant attached to the hotel - both the shop and the restaurant are also very good.
If you have an extended stay, there's a Rewe a few hundred meters away, a small kiosk, restaurants, and a bus stop as well.
Upon leaving, we commented on 'wow, that was a really nice hotel! we should stay there again"
The price was also very reasonable for an Easter Weekend stay.
Would absolutely recommend and will be staying here on my next trip to Hamburg.
Upon entering Hood House, guests are greeted by a chic lobby, adorned with carefully curated artwork and warm, inviting tones. The rooms, each exquisitely designed, boast sleek furnishings, plush bedding, and an abundance of natural light that enhances the tranquil atmosphere.

For those yearning to explore Winterhude's local attractions, Hood House is ideally situated. With a myriad of shops, parks, and cultural sites just a stroll away, guests can immerse themselves in the vibrant neighborhood, all while knowing they have a tranquil haven awaiting their return.
In summation, Hood House in Winterhude, Hamburg, is a modern oasis that marries sophistication with comfort. Its refined aesthetics, coupled with the charm of the Copenhagen Coffee Lab, create an unforgettable experience for travelers seeking a respite from the ordinary. From the attentive staff to the convenient location, Hood House stands as a testament to the art of modern hospitality.
I stayed 5 nights. No room service at all, smelly bed sheets (sweaty and unfresh) and unfriendly staff. I booked the cozy room for one person, because of the longer stay but even this was super tiny. Allowing during the night was extremely difficult, because the lights from the backyard building windows are not switched off. So your room is lightened up as a stage of Harry Styles.
You can’t open the windows and you can’t regulate the air condition and the temperature of the room- not even the towel radiator couldn’t been switched on. It was super cold (rainy August and too cold room).
I asked once for fresh towels to bring it up into my room. In the evening there still have not been any and after calling the receptio, there were no sorry and no offer to bring it now, just that I can pick some up now.
The towels are thinner than a kitchen towel.
At all, nice pictures about the interior but I wouldn’t recommend it or visit it again.
Located about 20m walk to the bus.
The bus stop for the hotel is “Goldbeck platz”, super easy to access from Hamburg hbf.
The hotel is located in a super cute quiet neighborhood that has tree lined streets and canals everywhere!
It’s about 200m from the most beautiful nature walk along the lake. Lots of runners, kayak and of course happy dogs. (See photos)
The room itself was more than perfect - certainly better than the photos which is always a wonderful surprise!
I can’t recommend this place enough!
Also, there’s a cute coffee shop in the lobby that seems to be popular and has a nice cosy atmosphere.
