the niu Keg Hotel

I’d definitely not recommend this hotel, I’ve been there for more than 10 days, with a non functioning TV, which I reported 5 times to different people, none of them did anything, and after checking out they asked me for my feedback about my stay I mentioned the problem and they didn’t even bother replying or apologizing. It’s a scam paying for a room with TV without getting it.
I always come to Hamburg for two weeks per month and the location of this hotel is perfect for me, but will never go back there anymore.
Btw also the breakfast was a scam absolutely not worth the 14.5 € I wouldn’t pay even 5€ for what they offer

AVOID!! they double book rooms. I am appalled to hear this hotels are freely being giving a hotel room key while the room is OCCUPIED!! And to add insult to injury the staff at this hostel see no issues with this. This occurred not just once but twice in the space of 2 days. If you are a women especially alone I would give this hotel a miss. It is completely unsafe!!!

The cleaner's body odor is noticeable even from afar as we pass by him. There is a strong smell of urine in the shower room, as if someone peed and didn't bother to rinse it away with water from the shower. After we showered, it was perfectly fine and didn't smell bad anymore. It's gross to think that the cleaner didn't do a proper job cleaning the shower space.

At 11:52 pm on Feb 9, we encountered a very rude reception staff. He tried to charge us for the gin and tonic when we specifically asked for the 'free drink' offered if we skipped room cleaning. He was aggressive in his speech, badmouthing us to others at the counter. He seems to have anger management issues and poor hearing, as he misunderstood a guest's complaint about a 'cold' room, assuming it was about the guest's 'card.' Despite correction, he wouldn't admit his mistake and insisted we were wrong about the free drinks. We genuinely like this hotel, but the experience with this staff member was horrible.

My husband is an engineer at Google, and we won't lie for free drinks. The staff member made us feel bad, badmouthing us to other guests even as we walked towards the elevator. This is very unprofessional. Despite the urine smell in the shower and the staff member's angry response, we are generally happy with the hotel.

Good location between an U-Bahn and a S-Bahn station.

The air conditioning of the room and the lobby were just blowing out warm air in mid summer and we couldn’t sleep much.

Lack of basic safety training. A glass water bottle was broken in the evening and my son went to the reception to ask for a brush/broom to clean it. The receptionist gave us a towel and a spray.

I went down again to ask. She could not find it and said that would ask when her supervisor arrives. She only gave me an old paper carton which carried wine for me to “clean up the glass”.

When I returned to the room my fiancé was struggling to stop bleeding as she cut her finger using the cloth to clean. I went down to ask for first aid kit. The receptionist struggled to find it and after a while only managed to find a bag with some masks, triangular bandage (for broken arms etc.) and small sticking plaster…not even sterile wound dressing which can be used to stop the bleeding!

And she never followed up with the request for a broom, let alone checking how the bleeding situation was going…

It is a matter of standard training and operational manual/protocol. What if something more serious happen and the staff has so little training/readiness to handle them. It’s not a matter of if but when.
