Reviews
They completely abused the situation of a high demand due to tradeshow. The price should have ben less than half.
I went with my son for the football and asked for a twin room and were very happy to be upgraded to a larger room 601 which was very clean and had everything you needed although a longer pipe on the shower would have been good and a blind on the bathroom window as it shone straight on the one bed in the morning.
You can leave your bags with them before check in and after checking out but when we collected them they were left unattended in reception .
I want to share my horrible experience at the hotel Leonardo Boutique Munich!
The staff was nice and friendly but as long as I got to the room and open the door, I had to see a few black Cockroaches on the floor next to the door frame.
Of course this is an horrible experience as you need to sleep it there all night long.
Discussed with the receptionist and they had only apologies and not solutions. According to them the hotel was fully booked and they could not move me anywhere else.
It was 12AM so to avoid sleeping on the streets, I had to stay in the room "sleeping" with my light ON all the night and checking all the time for those disgusting guests coming underneeth the bad.
Kind of an horror experience for someone that hate these species.
The hotel management was apologising all the time but in such situations you would expect some action/solution rather than pity and sympathy.
Next time I will prefer to sleep on the streets if I had no choice..
The highlight was the breakfast and breakfast crew/staff. They were very very friendly and efficient. They kept the breakfast fully stocked and clean at all times.
The rooms were very clean and with anything you may need as a back up already in the room(shavers, shampoo, earbuds ect.)
The location of this hotel was great and close enough to a vital Ubahn station.
I came back for second time for a reason and I highly recommend it.
1. The staff at the reception is very kind around the clock and very accommodating when checking in and out and when reporting problems with the room. They delt with a problem with our bathroom very professionally and kindly. During Covid times any person that has been infected, vaccinated or can present an official negative test made during the previous 24 hours can check in without problems. If you do not fall into the categories above you will need to conduct a test in front of the staff which you will need to purchase for 4€ a piece.
2. There is a small elevator to get to the different rooms but there are a few stairs in the building that i don't think you can get around which can be problem for accessibility.
3. The rooms are the hotels biggest weakness by far and they justify a 1☆ deduction. We stayed in the cheapest smallest rooms. This room wasn't too cramped but the bed was very narrow for two people. The quality of bed sheets, duvets and mattress were satisfactory. The washing basin was oriented towards the main room and outside of the actual bathroom which I found awkward. The bathroom itself was narrow, which in it of itself is no problem but it is only separated from the room by and glass sliding door which does not seal properly and is see through. This means that you cannot use the bathroom without involving your roommate. To me this is a significant downside which absolutely should be considered when booking.
4. Breakfast is in a small room on the first floor. The romm fits about 25 people during covid times but outside of covid times it might be very cramped. The buffet is limited with one coffee machine, a small English breakfast with sausages and eggs. There is a small selection of meats and cheeses as well as the most standard jams. There are a few assorted cereals and a small fruit basket. The bread rolls are laughable in their variety considering this is a German hotel. There a decent mini croissants. Breakfast does its job but it is not a reason you will want to stay in the hotel for. The staff at breakfast was very kind and helpful, by far the biggest + of the entire breakfast experience.
5. The noise pollution from outside the hotel was significant as it is in the middle of neighborhoods very traveled by students and tourists and it was quite noisy well into the night, I figure this can be seen as a positive or negative depending on who you are.
6. This hotel is frequented by young people that have an appointment at the USA consulate (or others which are nearby). For this purpose the hotel was very accommodating offering to keep luggage safe at the reception whilst one goes to his or her visa interview. The staff mentioned hat they are very used to this. There is free wifi but no ethernet cables available.
Overall I would recommend this hotel to young people with a budget and to anyone spending 1-2 nights. Do not expect luxury however I don't think you will be disappointed, it does the job and that's what your paying for.
TLDR; center city hotel with no special attributes beyond the fantastic location. If you are sensitive when bathroom activities are concerned then read point 3 and maybe choose a different hotel. Otherwise enjoy Munich.
Breakfast is good and fresh. Above all is a lovely staff and especially Marcus! Very friendly and helpful. He made us a reservation for a restaurant. Helped is find another hotel too.
