Otel Sea Star Beau Rivage

Just back from a week here, here’s a true experience from a family with a baby & kids.

Arrival - Rude reception staff, tried to get us to pay extra for the rooms when they were already booked and paid, the rooms we got weren’t together or on low ground as requested and they advised they had no other rooms available. You have to pay for wifi per device £10 per week.

Rooms - Was given a twin room for a room booked for 2 adults a child and a baby. Had to wait for 1 hour for someone to bring a cot and an extra bed in to a tiny room. Rooms were very outdated, hair all in the bathroom and black mould, towels weren’t clean and neither was the linen. My daughter was bitten to death on the spare bed! The cleaner walked in to our room unannounced several times asking for tips! We didn’t feel safe to leave anything there and took most things out of the room valuable wise every day and ensured the room was locked when we were in there.

Pools - not heated, swim up bar isn’t in service and the kids pool is connected to the main pool so it’s cold, the 2 slides are death traps and aren’t secure either. However the life guards are brilliant! Pool bar staff are great too and very helpful though poor drinks choices, powdered juice or fizzy drinks and local alcohol.

Food - no kids buffet, food is very bland and similar every night, you get a trip to the Italian and sea food restaurant don’t bother neither are great. Mohamed in the restaurant was brilliant though! (photo) you have to pay for chips £2 which we had to do because the kids wouldn’t eat anything else there apart from lunch time pizza which was good.
We caught a sickness bug whilst there too all of us were sick for 24 hours along with many other guests.

Location - on the beach which was lovely and well maintained, but nothing else around, a few shops outside and that’s it.

Harassed daily by the spa, trips salesman, the photographer tried to take photos of my daughter without permission, he was very rude and unprofessional. Camel on the beach everyday and you could ride for 5 minutes for £10.

Overall, if you’re on a tight budget and only there a short while it’s okay for the money.

We stayed at this hotel before doing a nile cruise. It is a lovely hotel, but is one of the older ones in Hurghada and is a little tired. The rooms are OK, a little dated, but the bathrooms are definitely a big let down. There is no free WiFi, which there should be at a 5 star hotel. The food is OK, but nothing special. The Italian restaurant is a bit of a joke, very un-Italian. The beach is OK, the smaller of the two pools is heated and is very warm, almost too warm, while the other is unheated. The all inclusive package doesn't include all drinks or cocktails. We stayed at a different hotel after our cruise which was far better.
