AMC Royal Hotel & Spa in Hurghada

Booked a package through travel odeal, Nile cruise and hotel stay, so didnt book the AMC Royal but unfortunately ended up there. AMC Royal is an all inclusive hotel, however this is for the 3 main meals and drinks. We had lunch and dinner on our 1st day and then decided that the offering of food was not of good standard and quality, the dinning room which is on the basement level was like a canteen with all guests having to eat at the time given. We went to the marina instead, which is about a 25 min taxi ride away. Taxi station at the fron doors of the hotel. First time we went was quoted 1100 Egyptian pounds - round trip. However having spoken to people we had met on the cruise they paid 500 ... which we did. Taxi service is great they drop you of in front of the marina and given a card, on your return one of the guys calls the taxi to pick you up. Also there is a restaurant next door, you have to walk to the pier where there's a surcuity guard and he let's you out a side gate the restaurant is 2 min walk from there. Great food and great service plus very very cheap. Back to the hotel, tired and dated however the staff were all friendly and always willing to help. As this is a one time trip to Egypt to see the sights I will not be returning to the AMC Royal, and would advise anyone to really think before booking or if in a package try and move hotels with the travel company that has booked you in. Couple of other points - people on beach selling excursions, asking you at least 3 times aday. we booked 2 boat trips with get your guide cheaper and never a problem with them, pick up from outside hotel. Rooms all even numbers have pool / sea views, odd numbers dont. Was told when checking in great room, sea veiw (odd number) - no sea view and looked on to the side of the hotel, went back to reception and was told move tomorrow. Went back next day and changed (even number). Shops within hotel - avoid the pharmacy, very very expensive, ripping holiday makers off. If tou go and need anything use the pharmacy at the marina, as the prices should be cheap.

I wouldn’t recommend this hotel, I understand it’s a budget friendly hotel which is fine however some of the decisions made by the management is baffling, they served chips as a special for lunch one day, the food is set out like a cattle market, no staggered times, room service or food available all day. The restaurants are just from the buffet but you still have to book, there’s no ice cream for desserts only pastries and the ice cream at the pool bar is from a machine is like frozen syrup. The waiters and the staff in the restaurant and bars are rude only really notice me when I go up alone and ask where I’m from staring at my chest, it’s quite intimidating and I definitely wouldn’t want to go as a single female. The food is dry and considering it’s on the beach there’s not much seafood. For breakfast they serve mash potato and vegetables which I found odd considering there’s no scrambled eggs. My husband had to defrost his butter for the toast and the stage is never used for entertainment it’s all inside. Highly dissatisfying and I definitely wouldn’t recommend this hotel to my clients considering I am a travel agent and did email them prior to arriving but no response from them.

AMC Royal Hotel may be labeled as a 5-star property, but in reality, it does not deserve more than 1 star when it comes to hotel standards.

After a long and exhausting flight with tired children, we arrived to find unfriendly staff at check-in. One of the room key cards didn’t work, and I had to return to reception three times before they finally agreed to send maintenance. This took around an exhausting hour before we could even enter the room. When we finally got in, there was no running water — it only came back after almost two hours.

Our booking clearly included food, drinks, accommodation, and in-room Wi-Fi, yet they refused to provide Wi-Fi in the rooms without extra payment. Meals and drinks are served at strictly limited hours, with almost no snacks in between — and when available, they were minimal.

Cleanliness was far below acceptable standards. We avoided the public restrooms entirely due to poor hygiene, and always returned to our room instead. The restaurant had an unpleasant smell, the buffet was very limited and repetitive, and the food quality was low. We only ate there twice; the rest of the time we had to eat outside despite the heat and exhaustion, because I have children who need proper meals.

On top of that, most services seemed to depend heavily on tipping in an excessive and uncomfortable way. This is simply not the level of service, cleanliness, or hospitality expected from a true 5-star hotel.

Terrible hotel! I would never visit again! Deffo not 5 stars hotel! Terrible food most of the time look like leftovers, the staff look like they don’t wanna work and they are there by force! Absolutely unhelpful UNLESS you give a dollar! But you already paid! It is very dirty everywhere! The main restaurant, rooms, lobby bar, outside area. Even the glasses are not washed properly you can see how they just rinse it with water and that’s it! They you end up with stomach issues and stuff. The food once again is terrible! Not many people speaks English, the animation is also every day the same! Absolutely boring, then it is far away from the city so u don’t have much choice. Outside of the hotel is also super dirty there is constantly dust from the road and sewer leaking on the street. Whatever you do u will find someone screaming at you in Arabic language. The other day a small child nearly drowned in the pool and the life guard done nothing! They all stayed and watched their phones, good the mom saved her child as she jumped in the pool on her own! Then the lifeguard just bring them a cup of water and say sorry… probably they had to give him a dollar in advance! I would never ever visit this hotel and never been in a worse hotel in my life!
