Truly great hotel!
Beautiful, neat, clean. Nice and friendly staff. We have half-board ourselves, so only breakfast. Unfortunately, at the time of writing, 2 of the 3 restaurants are closed and you can only use the evening buffet. That is a pity, but also understandable as we are a bit later in the holiday season.
On the other hand, it is great to be by the pool, as it is not so crowded and you always have a spot/sun bed by the pool. These too are very clean, well maintained and really beautiful. You can choose from 3 pools and a "jacuzzi", which is not really a jacuzzi, but lovely to sit in/at.
We also had a room upgrade on arrival. We went from a room with garden view, to a room with semi sea view. If I would have paid for sea view, I would have thought it a waste of my money. Anyway, we didn't pay for it :)
Alrighty; it’s a very nice hotel with plenty of options for activities nearby, great restaurants and good food. The breakfast buffet is pretty standard, but everything is very fresh and delicious! There is something for everyone.
In short, we are extremely happy with our choice of this beautiful hotel!

We had a great time at The Island hotel. Wonderful location. Good food and lots to do and visit in the area. Staff works really hard here! We especially loved the lady at the mini market who was super nice and really took care of all the cats in the resort.

This is a huge resort hotel with abundant of rooms. It is by the sea which is beautiful scene.
Foods at the restaurant are buffet style and quite standard.
As my room was mext to the garden, there were a few bugs and mosquitoes in my room, but nothing I cannot handle.
Amenities are there with gym and many pools, even a mini mart.
Around the area there are some good restaurants and the beautiful oceanic views

When we arrived we were welcomed by the friendly staf our luggage was immediately taken to our room. When entering our room we were a bit disappointed by the lack of space in the room and bathroom. It was a bath and shower together something that is for me not done in a 5 star hotel. Furthermore the hygiene was not very good, there were some weird spots on the toilet and tap. Breakfast is okay but you can’t chose where to sit and sometimes there is a long queue resulting in a long wait before getting assigned a table. If you ask if you can sit elsewhere it is really not appreciated by the staff. With dinner you need to have a little bit of luck with the theme of the evening. The staff at the reception is friendly but they are the only ones that are friendly, the others are rude. Sometimes you are woken by the cleaning ladies that enter your room at 8:30 which isn’t exactly the kind of thing you want at your vacation. The location is okay, there is a bus station at a 15 minute walk which you will definitely need because there is not much to do in the city.

Amazing resort/hotel. Staff were so helpful, the rooms were lovely and the food was great. It's not a party hotel or local to the party scene which is what we wanted. Would highly recommend!! Also they have about 5 cats within the resort that are very cute and friendly :)

I was waiting more from the hotel… I don’t think the pictures shows exactly what the hotel offer… specially the pools…
Me and my boyfriend had a very bad situation.
We went to a tour in Santorini and the Ferry boat was late on the way back. Our guide called the hotel asking for a late dinner for us and the hotel said they would provide.
When we reached in the hotel we saw that they put our food ON THE FLOOR, close to the room door.
I made a mistake (I assume) I wanted hang out that thing saying “ make up my room” but I choose the wrong side and put there “ do not disturb “
But if our guide called the hotel saying that we were in Santorini of course they could go into the room to put our food in the fridge or keep in at the bar…
I went down and talked to a guy in the repception showed him the picture I attached here and he answered me that was my mistake putting the “do not disturb” at the door and he could do nothing for us, we should eat that food that was on the floor 😱😡. No excuses for this…
On the day after I talked to the manager and she apologized and gave us a voucher for the lunch.
We apologized but I will never forget this situation…

Adults only, so nice and quiet. Breakfast is excellent, with a huge array of choice. Staff are excellent.
We stayed by Relaxation pool or on the beach across the road most days. Both were excellent, but I imagine sunbeds may become hard to come by as the season hits full flow. None of the four pools are heated. Annoying DJ at one pool, whose music carried to other pools.
Basketball court next to relaxation area is not the greatest idea.
Plenty of good tavernas within walking distance. Beautiful sunsets all along the coast.
This was a much bigger hotel than we usually choose to stay at, but given that, it was very good.

Our second visit to this fantastic hotel. Once again, they have delivered on every aspect of what a hotel should be. The staff, all of them, front of house, service staff, housekeeping, grounds staff and pool team cannot be faulted. There can be some trepidation when returning to a place that you so enjoyed the first time round, we can honestly say, any such feelings we had disappeared the moment we entered reception and were greeted with smiles and a welcome back...will be returning in 2025.

This hotel could not be faulted. Staff are superb, friendly and courteous. Rooms are of a very high standard, housekeeping outdo themselves every day. Food is of the highest quality and you are really spoilt with the choice available. We will be returning this year.

The GDM Island Hotel is listed as a 5-star luxury resort, however, our stay was good, not more, as expected from 5-stars resort in Crete. We have visited many 5 stars resorts, but this one is a bit less than our expectations. By the way, the hotel was located in the flight path, so it’s a bit noisy for peace and quiet resort (not to mention the pool DJ..)

Currently at the hotel nearing the end of our honeymoon here. From start to finish it has been fantastic. The hotel is exceptional. The decor, the staff and food are amazing. We have the cool room with infinity pool, although a little on the small side it is just big enough for what you need. For anyone thinking on booking the room i would highly reccomend it. You get the sun in these rooms from around 3pm onwards. So perfect to go to one of the 3 main pools first then afternoon in the room.
The location is brilliant. We hired a buggy for the duration, which you can do from inside the hotel at 'Autolele'. After reading the reviews of there not being much around, i was a bit dubious that we might get a bit bored. I was wrong. After driving to some of the bigger towns, the shops just sell the same things in everyone. So you are not missing much. There are a couple of shops here and some nice bars/restaurants. Plus the shop in the hotel has everything you could possibly need.
Would 100% return and cant fault anything. We loved every minute.
