Trastevere is not what it was 7-8 years back! It has lost its charm, and so have the hotels and eateries around it. Hotel San Francesco inspite of being in a prime area of Trastevere, not very far from the good hangout places around, falls really short of expectations. Only the exteriors looked good. The room that we booked was minuscule. It was old, with no basic amnesties that a basic standard hotel would offer in this price range. No water heating kettle. No tea. No sugar. No cup, no glass, only walls and hard bed! No heating in bathroom. Insufficient heating in the room in Rome’s zero degree temperature!! Old room with ancient paint almost falling off. Overall a not so good experience to end our otherwise beautiful holiday. Our previous hotel- Hotel Quirinale was leaps and bounds ahead of this miserly hotel.

We stayed at Hotel San francesco for 4 nights after visiting Firenze, Pienza Figline & it was a very good experience. The rooms are outdated and needs to be updated. The bar down below is absolutely phenomenal & the food was some of the best I had. Cristian was AMAZING & I had THE BEST Old Fashioned I've ever had (i only drink this). The staff was incredibly friendly & helpful. The beds were comfy & I was able to put it cold when it was too hot inside. I definitely will be back as it's walkable to everything & hopefully Cristian is still there

Professional and corteous staff. Small but elegant room with nice bathroom. Daily housekeeping. Breakfast was very good. Great location as the area is very walkable.

Really nice place. Nice staff. Good price. We decided to pay in advance for breakfast because it was less than other hotels, and it was well worth it, pancakes were a bit hard, but the American was well made and not too filling, a good start to a long day of walking and exploring Rome. The location is nice, it might look run down, but turn a corner and you've got stunning views, trees and beautiful buildings, patio side restaurants with friendly staff who speak excellent English. Made to feel very welcome by staff in the hotel and local restaurants. Carefor around the corner for a few odds and sods.

I made a scheduling error when booking my stay. The staff was kind and accommodating--the hotel was booked, but they quickly found me alternate accommodations a 7 min walk away.
When we were able to check in at San Francesco, we enjoyed a cheery, immaculate room, and a lovely breakfast each morning-- they do not do a buffet, but instead you receive a choice between continental and American style which is brought on a tray. It was delicious and I actually preferred it to the more common buffet. In addition, drinks on their terrace is not to be missed. I would definitely stay here again, as well as recommend it to friends.

We had a very enjoyable stay at Hotel San Francesco. This was our first time visiting Rome and we were so glad we chose this hotel. It has a “boutique” quality - elegant, modern, and clean. It is located in Trastevere, which was a wonderful “home base” for our trip - great restaurants, shops, etc. The staff are excellent - warm, helpful, and very accommodating. We would gladly stay here again.

Overall a decent hotel for the price. Rooms were small yet comfortable with AC and well stocked bathrooms. My biggest complaint was the bed - rather firm and needing an upgrade. Staff was exceptional. Breakfasts worth the money. Well positioned to explore all of Rome.

Excellent location and quiet area. Loved the walking distance to restaurants and accessible bus stops. Rooms are comfortable, friendly staff. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

Okay, but i wouldn’t stay there again. Fridge didn’t work in the room, my husband needed it for his medication. The staff was friendly, especially the restaurant bar/coffee. Front desk staff was slightly dismissive - and not the best with restaurant recommendations. the view from our room was onto an inner courtyard which was nice.
Its an okay location - but its a little out of the way. The dining room was well decorated and comfortable, the breakfast was good.

We had such a great experience at the hotel San Francesco. The staff is lovely and friendly, location is very good, plenty of restaurants and bars. It’s 25 minutes walk to tourists attractions. The traffic is chaotic so it’s good to walk around to get to those places.
The room was cleaned and organised everyday with no request. Very good service. There’s a restaurant/cocktail bar attached to the hotel, a bit expensive but good service, we stayed for a couple of drinks because it was pouring rain outside.
I’d recommend this hotel.
