Reviews
Other than the incredible staff, the room was also incredibly clean, had all the facilities needed and there’s a good breakfast with multiple options every morning.
Location of the hotel is about 5-10 min walk from the beach and there’s multiple mini supermarkets nearby. Also about a 10-15 min walk from the bus station.
Highly recommend staying here!
We had a bicycle that the apartment owner allowed us to store in her personal space in the garage. This garage is shared between the hotel and the apartments. The owner gave me a key to open the garage door.
One day, after dropping my child off at kindergarten and returning, I opened the garage and started bringing in the bicycle. A car was about to exit but stopped. A bearded man, whom I often saw at the hotel entrance—where he and another bearded colleague spent entire days chatting and doing nothing—looked out from the car. He was holding a small child on his lap while driving. He began shouting at me in Montenegrin. From his words, I understood that he was demanding I leave immediately, claiming I had no right to be in the garage. My attempts to ask questions or explain only made him shout louder. When I went to park the bicycle, he began following me with his car. He said that if it weren't for the child (whom he was holding the entire time), he would beat me up. When I asked who he was, he replied that he owned the whole building. He then drove off, cursing.
The apartment owner came immediately upon hearing about the incident. We went to the hotel reception, but the man wasn't there. The Idila Hotel staff refused to help us in any way. The owner asked them to inform this man that he should never yell at her tenants again.
I encountered this man several times afterward. When asked directly if he wanted to apologize, he simply turned away. After that, he would always pass by in silence.
I believe this situation speaks volumes about the staff at the Idila Hotel.
The hotel is finished to an exceptionally high standard and looks brand new. The rooms are very comfortable, well thought out (sockets, storage etc) and spotless, and there were even some biscuits in the room as a welcome gift when we checked in.
The location is great for anyone who wants easy access to explore Budva old town and the beach as we were about a 30 minute walk from the old town (I'm sure there are buses but we didn't look at this option). There are also many cafés and shops nearby within a 5/10 minute walk, including pharmacies and a supermarket. However, despite the buslting location the hotel is up a side street and away from all the noise and feels very peaceful.
Breakfast was of high quality and changed each morning, and had a varied, although slightly limited, selection - this was mainly due to the space available, however I looked forward to breakfast each morning and, for me, there was plenty of choice. We were also greeted at the door and offered a choice of fresh teas and coffees which was great, and something that was lacking in many other hotels during our trip.
However, the highlight of our stay was the staff who made us feel welcome and very comfortable. They were all incredibly friendly, helpful and attentive and went out of their way for us. It was my birthday on the day we were checking out and the stack of birthday pancakes at breakfast was a lovely way to start the day!
I can absolutely recommend this hotel.
