Reviews
The staff were super friendly and helpful. The service with a smile made our stay even more enjoyable.
The family suite was a bit smaller than I had hoped for but manageable.
Hotel restaurants were great but staying in Bangkok we did try a few external restaurants on our excursions.
Thank you Riverside for our lovely stay.
The service is terrible, relative to other Bangkok hotels. If you’re gauging it on a western scale- 3.5 stars, if you’re gauging it against other Bangkok or Asian 5 star hotels hotels it’s maybe 1.5-2 stars.
Takes forever to get service by the pool, they make stupid excuses as to why they’re not able to accommodate your requests and ultimately the food is horrible. Cheap quality ingredients and super over priced as well which wouldn’t be a factor if it was actually good or decent ingredients. Expect prices to be ^20% more than other actual 5 star hotels that actually deserve the stars.
The north wing beds are mildewy, apart from the top floor. The south wing rooms are dark and outdated and have horrible lighting. The TV doesn’t have a good list of channels- if you want to watch sports, they do not show EPL or anything like this on the tv.
Comfortable bed.
The gym is pretty decent. Can get a good workout in here. The pool is always crowded.
The river that it sits on smells terrible, like septic all over the place.
They do cool features like an ice plunge but overall the service over here really tanks the place. And the food is atrocious. I drank the Worst coffee I’ve ever had in Bangkok, a city filled with great coffee.
Also the shower is so weird. Your bathroom floods every time you take a shower.
Was here for an event and will never consider staying here again.
On the day we were leaving, sept 15, cleaner opened door, without knocking, at 9 AM, saying checkout! I do want my PRIVACY respected. Are staff not trained to respect privacy? Why do i have to checkout at 9 am?
The 1st terrible incident happened on the night we checked in. We were suppoed to checked in sept 10th but flight was delayed and baggage collection was also delayed. We finally arrived after midnight sept 11th.
On checking in, we were told, take left and left again with no effort to help with bags. We were not told everything needed is on the tv and neither was tv on to inform us that menu for food is there. So we went down to ask and wandered around to find only a burger king open in the mall.
When we tried to order as per tv, we were told the 2 rooms were not registered in our names. Finally called and person on phone took our order for food.
And shockingly for a 5* hotel, i had the most unpleasant experience of having a SHOWER HEAD DROPPING ON MY HEAD!! SHOCKING MAINTENANCE. The said shower head DROPPED A 2ND TIME... ON MY FEET.
Luckily for me, the shower head was one of those very light inexpensive piece. Having a bruise on the head was not great. The saving grace was that i was not further injured for someone with bleeding disorder!!
The staff were prompt to replace the shower head with a new one with a proper insert. Shoundn't proper maintenance of standard things be done to ensure safety?
And if you are a senior and not very tall, be aware that showering becomes an exercise of great trepidation. There is no separate shower tray from the DEEP OLD BATHTUB and one has to be very cautious not to fall.
Asking the staff for a step stool is another exercise of creating more safety issues. They gave a very high step stool, not a safety step stool. So it was a pointless exercise in asking.
So overall, a less than impressive experience of a good hotel, probably the worse of 5* hotels we have stayed at.
And yes, noise from wedding only stopped at 12 30am.
During dinner they showcase many dance and tablos..
A must visit place..
First off the bellboys, greeters and front desk staff were excellent and a wonderful introduction to the location. As far as I’m concerned they are your first impression and they all deserve a raise.
They were helpful, knowledgeable, courteous with a good sense of humor.
All the other staff we interacted with were also top notch. They have built a really great team here.
The location is perfect for a few days exploring Bangkok, and although the property feels a bit aged- it’s quite clean.
Will happily be back.

I had left (by mistake) some small items on my past trip and did not even realise. Guess what... this trip, those items were in my room when I arrived. I had not told the hotel.....
Also, on this trip a colleague traveling with me had tooth ache. Concierge arranged for all doctor appointments etc .
I have traveled the world and have never experienced such service like you get at Anantara Hotels.. keep it up guys!
