Prince Palace Hotel Bangkok - SHA Extra Plus

- Old and dated hotel. Needs modern renovation.
- Only a fixed shower head in bathroom at a low height which was very inconvenient.
- Gave several days notice for a birthday set-up which was noted. Upon check-in, I was told this will not be done.
- Dust under beds and tables. We also found a pack of cigarettes under our bed. Housekeeping clearly does not clean properly.
- Light switches did not work on the second day.

My wife and I attended her older sister's wedding at this hotel located near Chinatown. While the event space was spacious, the hotel itself is somewhat outdated and in need of substantial upgrades and maintenance. Nevertheless, the event proceeded without any issues. Additionally, the parking area was rather confusing and felt unsafe due to its design.

Even though the hotel could use some improvements, the staff were remarkably attentive, going above and beyond to ensure that everyone felt comfortable and welcomed.

The hotel initially impressed with its spotless appearance and friendly staff who accommodated my early check-in request. However, our first room in Tower B did not meet expectations. Despite requesting twin beds and a city view, we were given a king-size bed with either dirty or blackout windows, and the room was in poor condition with worn furniture and a mouldy bathroom. After discussing these issues with the front desk, we were moved to Tower C, which was in better shape but still needed maintenance. The room had holes, stained furniture, and malfunctioning plugs, and the bathroom tub was cracked. The bathroom had remnants of hair from previous guests. The amenities were poor with the body wash being empty, and we can tell that water had been added to the hand wash. On the plus side, the cleaning improved after our first night, the beds were really comfortable, and the breakfast buffet offered a diverse range of options. While the main entrance is immaculate, the rest of the hotel is in need of updating. Given my experience and the discrepancy between the hotel's photos and reality, I wouldn’t choose to stay here again.

The rooms in Tower B are very dated, straight out remnants from the 80's. Cleanliness is alright, but not great. The vents of the A/C look like they haven't been dusted in years.

Service is highly inconsistent. Generally friendly and helpful, but doesn't seem to be following a regular schedule. One day they make up the rooms at 10 AM, the next day they still haven't been around at 2 PM. When called to attend to the room, it takes forever for someone to show up.

Front desk is unreachable via phone, you have to approach them in person to get things moving; which is another inconvenience since they are in a different part of the building that takes 5+ minutes to reach.

The location itself is alright, surrounded by markets and small street food vendors and convenience stores. Far enough from the city to not be affected by noise, close enough to get anywhere reasonably quick.

Overall, it's an OK choice, but I do believe there are better options for the same money.

Rooms are okay but they smell like kind of old woods that were not maintained properly. Also, we have to leave the AC open the entire time even if we go out because it takes a long time to get the room cold. The location is good though because outside of the hotel it was surrounded by vendors. Good experience though some of my workmates experienced scary moments inside the hotel.
