Reviews
•All inclusive breakfast and dinner are 10/10 options for everyone, any dietary requirements, our last night we had a grandma making fresh pita which was a great touch to try something freshly made in front of you.
•Lunch A la carte food is also good, all done fresh to order. 10/10 only minus I would say the menu is too much tourists orientated, not local orientated. I would've loved to try some more proper turkish specialities, but that's not their fault all restaurants around are the same too much orientated towards accommodating tourists all over.
•Rooms very clean when we arrived, nice balcony with chairs outside surprised by a Pomegranate tree in front of our balcony, they clean everyday rooms if you need, staff very attentive they noticed we were four of us so they added extra towels, extra cotton buds, extra toilet papers small things that makes your holiday more enjoyable as you don't have to stress about them.
•Massage/Sauna and Bubble Bath, which we paid separately. They were down from heaven provided by Selim and his Indonesian staff members, very good relaxing and well received, we’ve never been more relaxed after a holiday like this in a long time.
•Reception verry attentive to all your needs, if any bookings made with third party companies outside hotel they will make sure to call you to remember about your booking and make sure you are safe checking with drivers that they take you where they supposed to take you.
On our arrival night we came around 00:30 ish, the reception staff organised us a meal for four to make sure we ate something that night as we've been travelling already for about 5h which was very much appreciated.
•Pool very clean, nice sitting in the water to the pool bar, where you can enjoy a cocktail in shade. Pool suitable for all ages, also a mini kids pool available.
Lovely entertainment every night, live music, belly dancers.
The only advice I would give would be for Bar to look into stocking also soy or oat milk to accommodate someone dairy free, so you don't have to go and spend the money for a coffee with Starbucks over the road and support their business.
Everything else is great.
I forgot we have wifi in the room, in the hotel and at the beach.
The city center is very close and is only about 1km away. If it is too far for someone to walk, there is also a bus stop in front of the hotel.
This was our first time in Turkey and didn't know what to expect, the hotel off the bat was traditional and seemed to cater for business, rather than holiday makers. We stayed here for 11 days and for at least 7, there was not a single person in the pool except for us. Heaven for me and my son.
Most of the people were Turkish, German, Russian so it was a little different than usual, Brits usually like to make themselves heard ;-).
The food was nice, but impossible to make a whole meal out of, it was mainly cuts of meat or fish, then a whole selection of different things that only really worked as things to taste in small quantities. There were no western type food at all.
The staff were always nice and were always happy to help and with all your food and drink added to a tab that you pay at the end of your holiday, relatively stress free... however it' snot cheap, far from it.
We always had this idea that Turkey was cheap, or a bargain, we didn't know that Alanya itself was probably the most expensive places to visit in turkey with exceptions to Istanbul.
If you've never been to Turkey and are thinking of coming, you need to know that Alanya is expensive, easily £5 a beer, £12 a cocktail, and £20 for a meal... there are exceptions, but overall it's not what you think. We had beach days and would easily spend the equivalent of £10-20, on snacks.
Ps: Top tip - when speaking in your own language to cleaners, restaurant staff or any staff just end your request with Lütfen (loot - fan) - which means PLEASE - and watch the smile appear on their faces. They have tough jobs and just being nice means a lot 🙏
We are from the UK and stayed at Grand Okan for five nights. We had our daughter in our room. The poor thing had to sleep on the sofa bed, which was very uncomfortable (10-year-old). This had to be the worst hotel that we ever stayed in.
The room was tiny.
With three of us in the room, we had to wait for others to move so we could get around.
Another negative side of the hotel was that they always looked at making extra money from us. Every time I looked up, someone would try and sell me something or charge me for extras in the hotel. (other hotels provide that for free). Once the staff realised we were not interested in purchasing extras, we started to receive the not welcome look.
From the five nights we stayed, the food was only good on one evening.
The main goal for the hotel is to try and make as much money off the guests. The prime example is they have evening entertainment, which they make money from drinks. Dinner is very rushed and starts from 18:00 to 20:00. If you go down at 19:00, you will hardly find any food, and if you go at 19:30, forget as they will start picking up the buffet plates. Also, out of the five nights, the food was only good on one night.
When we left the hotel attendant carried our bags and didn’t even give me a chance to take his tip out of my wallet. He started to cough all over me to get my attention. I understand the tips are standard, but we are leaving the hotel, and I wanted to confirm we have everything with us.
Grand Okan, thanks for having us, but we will not be returning.
The rooms were spacıous and very clean.
The food was excellent and varied enough to satisfy everybody, including a vegetarian, a child and a person that needs gluten free food.
The location is good. The beach is 2 minutes away and the hotel has multiple transport connectıons in front of it.
The staff were friendly and helpful
Our only problem is whether we go in June or October in 2024
We asked about keeping our room on as we had a later checkout and was told this would be 50 euros which we found expensive so we asked about using a courtesy room and were told we would have to ask at reception to see IF there was a room available which could have been anywhere in the hotel. There was a 1 year old in our party so felt we had no option but to pay the money to keep the room on.
