I booked a day spa indulgence package and it was a fabulous day. The massage treatment was great and lunch very generous. What a beautiful place with vast desert plains to see gazelles and oryxes. Super cool coming from the city. My booking was looked after by Issa and she was incredibly helpful. The location isn’t the easiest to get to but that’s what makes it such a special place.

A Journey to the Heart of the Desert: Al Maha Desert Resort Review 🌵🏜️

Hello, fellow adventurers! 🌞

I recently had the privilege of staying at the Al Maha Desert Resort, a hidden gem nestled deep within the Arabian Desert. From the moment we turned off the exit, it felt like we were on a long journey to paradise. The drive to the resort, though long, slowly unveiled an oasis that promised an unforgettable experience.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by the lovely Reino and Winnie, who made us feel right at home with a welcome drink. Their warmth set the tone for the rest of our stay. We were then whisked away to our suite via buggy, and I have to say, the room was nothing short of spectacular. It was a spacious suite with a large private pool overlooking the endless sand dunes and the vast desert. The sight of gazelles and oryx wandering freely in our garden was really magical—a surreal connection with nature that’s hard to find in the busy hustle and bustle of Dubai elsewhere.

After a bit of rest, we embarked on a sunset camel ride, which was one of the highlights of our stay. Initially, we were unsure if the ride would happen due to a sand and thunderstorm, but fortune favoured us. The skies cleared just in time, and we found ourselves riding camels into the sunset under a rainbow—a moment straight out of a dream. Our camel guide, Arshad, was an absolute gentleman. His calm and welcoming demeanour and knowledge made us feel comfortable, and we had so much fun with him, asking questions and learning about the desert, the camels and he even indulged into some funny desert stories with us.

The ambiance and service were impeccable, adding to the luxurious feel of the resort. However, as much as I loved the chef and staff I do have to say that the food didn't quite meet our expectations. For a resort of such high calibre, we expected the menu to be outstanding. I believe focusing on what the chef does best, perhaps with a smaller, more intimate menu featuring wine or mocktail pairings or perhaps a tasting menu, could enhance the dining experience. I will be sharing this feedback directly with Piotr, the head chef, who was incredibly open and receptive to our thoughts.

The next morning, we were delighted with the breakfast and lunch offerings that were prepared by Piotr and his team. The healthy options were such a great touch and tasted delicious, and we particularly enjoyed the wagyu sandwich and grills at lunch, we had the lamb and prawn grills with some yummy sides. Piotr even prepared a little packed lunch of focaccia for us to try, which was such a lovely gesture.

Our time at Al Maha resort was an experience we will never forget, and we even had a little gift from Prakash who sent us off on our travels with some pots of local honey, which was a sweet touch and made our day. From the stunning suite to the unforgettable camel ride and the wonderful staff, it’s a place that captures the essence of desert luxury. A few tweaks to the dinner menu would make it a truly faultless impeccable desert resort, but overall, it’s a destination that I would highly recommend for anyone looking to escape into the tranquillity of the desert and I would rate it 4.8/5.

We stayed at this resort for 4 days. It was beautiful. The staff were extremely accommodating, the food was varied and very good. We really enjoyed our second stay. The peace and the view from the room is magical. It was very hot, but we were always able to cool off a bit because of the private pool. We will definitely come back. THANK YOU!

Sensational property with only 40 villas. It’s nice and quiet, but there’s a couple activities a day that will keep you busy. The food was among the best I’ve had. Food is included in the cost of the room. This is important to know because it’s top-notch food. The staff at the restaurant were amazing and I’m fairly confident there is three to one staff to hotel Guests. The pool in your own private villa is nice and the big pool is also nice and deep for the kids. I can see why this is one of the best resorts in the Middle East

We had a stopover in Dubai, and we've stayed in the city before, so we decided a short stay in the desert might be fun for a change. This place is incredible. We arrived at night, and it's very dark out there. So, it wasn't until we woke up in the morning that we saw the astonishing view. It was like waking up on Mars with desert as far as we could see in every direction. The villas are palatial and well separated from each other, and each has its own pool. The food is so so good, and all the staff are lovely. There are a number of worthwhile activities to do as well like falconry, 4x4ing in the dunes, camel riding, archery, a nature drive where you learn about the flora and fauna of the desert, drinks at sunset, and a banquet in the desert. Definitely worth a stay if you have the opportunity.

This Saturday for my birthday, hubby and I stayed in Al Maha for 1 night and 2 days. The location, the property, the facilities, the suites and the service was excellent. We absolutely loved our stay and I couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate my birthday. They also offer activities which we throughly enjoyed. However the food can be improved.
