Good rooms, free minibar, the personnel are very kind, the beds are big and comfortable,
Free gym and spa 🌞
Very quiet place, nice for good resting.
The bad side is that you can't regulate the air conditioner, just turn it on or off.

Melia-Seestern Duesseldorf
- 2 nights
- Premium Room

Overall

- good value for money (but with a twist)

The Good

- spacious
- separate loo (always good)
- small walk-in closet (that is very, very good)
- table + chairs for eating/seating
- kitchenette
- overall it is a bit of a studio
- access to public transport nearby (subway/trams)

The Quirky

The rooms are located all on one side of the building. The hallway is "open" bordering a space that covers the entire building from floor to top with rooms painted black. A bit like a flat (or a prison with the black paint ...). It is quite unusual although I get it given the layout of this building, how to efficiently develop hotel rooms, and the adjacent building that is shared with companies and offices. Restaurant and bar are in the other building, the reception connects both.

The Bad

- open bathroom (why do some hotels think that works?)
- no kitchen-equipment (more on the weird thing that then happened below)

...

I travel a lot so I know what is around and what works - and what does not work. I tend to prefer studio-type hotel rooms with an equipped kitchenette. It feels a bit more homy and you do not always want to go out for diner so having a little place to cook is appreciated.

However, surprisingly enough the fully equipped kitchenette (sink, fridge, microwave, water heater, nespresso machine) came without any kitchen tools. Nothing to cook with (pots and pans and cutlery), to eat (plates, cutlery) and to clean.

That is unusual and bit weird - all similar rooms I have stayed before were always fully equipped

Now, there was a print in the room stating that you can contact the reception team on any kind of equipment for the kitchen.

OK, fine, so far so good.

However, when contacting the reception they only reluctantly provided one spoon, one knife, one fork, one bowl and one cloth for drying. We were with two.

Dear Melia-Seestern: if you provide rooms with a kitchenette make sure that either it is fully equipped or there is a kitchen-equipment-package that can be provided on request. Why otherwise have the kitchenette? That doesn't make sense and without equipment it is a waste of money. Remember, you provided the print that the reception desk can be contacted for kitchen equipment. And make sure your reception desk employees know this and understand this.

And dear Melia-Seestern: you are a big brand and have people employed and pay them good money to think about these things. Make them work for their money. This particular thing is not rocket science.

The open bathroom is also something I have run into a before. And I don't get it, it just doesn't work. I get the tinted glass window (for light) but please add some doors. Again, it is not rocket science.

And again dear Melia-Seestern: you are a big brand and have people employed and pay them good money to think about these things. Make them work for their money.

...

That doesn't mean it is not a good hotel. It is - regardless of this kitchen-equipment-thing - good value for money.

Great hotel and exceptional service from front desk ! Great spacious room , with a mini bar and free organic drinks , easy to reach from Dusseldorf airport or from Dusseldorf City center .

Worst service ever. Hotel staff especially manager is rude. No empathy and not a solution driven person. Worst communication. This.should be your last choice in Düsseldorf. This is even worse than Motel Inn in USA. I do not put review comments until I feel the need to caution fellow Travellers.

Sabri was not only gracious but took the time to connect with each of the people i our group to ensure a favorable experience. Great drinks, impeccable service. The hotel is surely benefiting from his commitment to his craft. He even had the right music.. cheers

Modern hotel with very friendly staff. Had a good stay. The breakfast is basic, but good. The room was neat and clean.

Unfortunately, I am writing an unpleasant review for this beautiful hotel because of the staff at the hotel restaurant. The barman on duty on the evening of 10/05/2023 forgot my order (and this can happen, especially as there was a private event going on in the indoor hall); I had to request my order again after half an hour and he apologised and served me the drink without any problems. But at the moment of payment the problems arisen: I decided to pay by card but he didn’t give me the order receipt and as I claimed for it, he started to speak in German in an annoyed way (sadly German is not my language). I asked him to speak in English to understand his grumblings and he started to discriminate on grounds of nationality. At that point there was nothing to add or to say.
I have already been a customer of the Meliá group in several of the chain's hotels and I have never found myself in this condition, which is completely unacceptable, especially for a 4-star hotel. There can be bad days for everyone, but in this case, I think it is just rudeness. I hope this review will help the hotel management to take appropriate action.
The rest of the hotel staff seemed friendly and polite so I’m sorry I have to write a negative review just because of one rude person, who doesn’t know how to do his job, in the midst of staff who try their best. You are a 4-stars hotel and situations like these should be prevented.

My mom and I came from the US and stayed 4 days at the Innside Seestern. The hotel was easy to find, near the train to go to the downtown! They were so kind! And even upgraded our room!

The upgraded room was spacious, with great amenities. The gym was an excellent space to maintain my workout routine.
The beds were super comfortable with firm mattress.

I highly recommend the restaurant which had amazing food at all times!

The modern bathroom was always spotless and provided all we needed: hair dryer, endless fresh  towels and high quality amenities. The staff was super helpful in getting us new towels, extra sheets, and providing guidance to get around the area.
The staff was extremelly professional, attentive to every detail, they all spoke multiple languages which was nice since we don’t speak German.

We had breakfast everyday and dinner a couple of times at the restaurant and each time we enjoyed it very much! I highly recommend this place!!

Beautiful modern hotel. Very clean and the staff is friendly and open to help you with anything. The rooms are clean. Room temperature is good and easy adjustable. The shower is amazing! Never had a hotel shower like this.
The drinks and snacks at the hotel bar are nice, nothing special. The breakfast is very tasty! Lot of options to choose from.
The place of the hotel is in an industrial area so don't expect to have a nice evening walk. You can take a tram to the city (twice per hour). We took an Uber, within 10-15 min you are in the city centre.
Share your experiences, help others make the right choice!
Think about what you would like to know if you were looking for a review about a place to relax. Please describe in detail what you liked and what you didn't. What would you advise to other guests and to the hotel owner. The more fully you tell about the hotel, the easier it will be for other people to make a choice and they will be very grateful to you!
