Reviews
Key points of concern:
My cancellation request was made due to a legitimate reason, yet I was met with rigid cancellation policies.
I have requested multiple times for all my personal data to be deleted from your system, but this has not been confirmed.
The lack of proactive communication and support during this situation has been highly disappointing.
Given this experience, I will not be staying at your hotel again and will be discouraging colleagues and contacts from doing so as well.
Free gym and spa 🌞
Very quiet place, nice for good resting.
The bad side is that you can't regulate the air conditioner, just turn it on or off.
- 2 nights
- Premium Room
Overall
- good value for money (but with a twist)
The Good
- spacious
- separate loo (always good)
- small walk-in closet (that is very, very good)
- table + chairs for eating/seating
- kitchenette
- overall it is a bit of a studio
- access to public transport nearby (subway/trams)
The Quirky
The rooms are located all on one side of the building. The hallway is "open" bordering a space that covers the entire building from floor to top with rooms painted black. A bit like a flat (or a prison with the black paint ...). It is quite unusual although I get it given the layout of this building, how to efficiently develop hotel rooms, and the adjacent building that is shared with companies and offices. Restaurant and bar are in the other building, the reception connects both.
The Bad
- open bathroom (why do some hotels think that works?)
- no kitchen-equipment (more on the weird thing that then happened below)
...
I travel a lot so I know what is around and what works - and what does not work. I tend to prefer studio-type hotel rooms with an equipped kitchenette. It feels a bit more homy and you do not always want to go out for diner so having a little place to cook is appreciated.
However, surprisingly enough the fully equipped kitchenette (sink, fridge, microwave, water heater, nespresso machine) came without any kitchen tools. Nothing to cook with (pots and pans and cutlery), to eat (plates, cutlery) and to clean.
That is unusual and bit weird - all similar rooms I have stayed before were always fully equipped
Now, there was a print in the room stating that you can contact the reception team on any kind of equipment for the kitchen.
OK, fine, so far so good.
However, when contacting the reception they only reluctantly provided one spoon, one knife, one fork, one bowl and one cloth for drying. We were with two.
Dear Melia-Seestern: if you provide rooms with a kitchenette make sure that either it is fully equipped or there is a kitchen-equipment-package that can be provided on request. Why otherwise have the kitchenette? That doesn't make sense and without equipment it is a waste of money. Remember, you provided the print that the reception desk can be contacted for kitchen equipment. And make sure your reception desk employees know this and understand this.
And dear Melia-Seestern: you are a big brand and have people employed and pay them good money to think about these things. Make them work for their money. This particular thing is not rocket science.
The open bathroom is also something I have run into a before. And I don't get it, it just doesn't work. I get the tinted glass window (for light) but please add some doors. Again, it is not rocket science.
And again dear Melia-Seestern: you are a big brand and have people employed and pay them good money to think about these things. Make them work for their money.
...
That doesn't mean it is not a good hotel. It is - regardless of this kitchen-equipment-thing - good value for money.
I have already been a customer of the Meliá group in several of the chain's hotels and I have never found myself in this condition, which is completely unacceptable, especially for a 4-star hotel. There can be bad days for everyone, but in this case, I think it is just rudeness. I hope this review will help the hotel management to take appropriate action.
The rest of the hotel staff seemed friendly and polite so I’m sorry I have to write a negative review just because of one rude person, who doesn’t know how to do his job, in the midst of staff who try their best. You are a 4-stars hotel and situations like these should be prevented.
