Holiday Inn Frankfurt - Alte Oper, an IHG Hotel

A relatively new and well run Holiday Inn. This is in a new build and it has been done well. Solid walls and excellent sound proofing from the street. We literally heard nothing from the street below which is a very busy road. Our room was spacious, comfortable and well designed.

The hotel is a short walk from the station, maybe 7 minutes, but the walk is through a post apocalyptic environment of drug taking, prostitution and dereliction. Ass wipe paper everywhere. Frankfurt what has become of you?!? The side street the hotel is on takes you directly to the Städel Museum over a river pedestrian bridge. The walk, unfortunately, takes you back through the heart of darkness. What a pity Frankfurt has become so downtrodden in this one area.

We stayed at this hotel for one night while we were in Frankfurt. We did plenty of research and were well prepared for the location. So I can fully understand why some reviewers felt so strongly about the neighborhood. First of all. It is very conveniently located, about less than 10 min walk away, from the train station. But you might have to cross two blocks of red light district and saw drug addicts right in front of the hotel. It’s possible to by pass the bad streets if you do some research on alternate routes to the train station or to the city.

The staff was very helpful gave us early check in around 9am which was a big plus since we just got off our plane at around 8. Unfortunately they don’t Speak much English so were not able to answer any questions, which is fine.

The room is clean and offered everything we expected of a hotel. Beds were comfortable and shower is nice.

I love staying at this hotel. The location is great. It is not far from the train station and center. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I love the calm spacious green decoration of the room. Also, it is very quiet. The bathroom has a bathtub for a relaxing bath and there is amble space. There is also a tea/coffee corner.
Unfortunately, the gym is in the basement with no windows and the floor mats are too thick and in three pieces which is not practical for yoga.
However, all around a great hotel to stay in with a calm atmosphere and friendly staff.

Very pleasant staff and spacious clean rooms. Great status recognition - very pleasantly surprised with welcome amenities. Close to train station which is convenient. Unfortunately walk from train station, although only about 8 minutes, is somewhat scary, but that is not the fault of the hotel but lax governments that endanger law abiding citizens in favor of misconceptions of equity. Fortunately, walking along other side of hotel to the financial district and Romer area is nice and safe.
