Dorint Hotel am Heumarkt Koln

Don’t be fooled by the interior of this hotel. Your AC wont work, you wont get hot water, reception doesn’t answer any calls from the rooms, none of their suite fridges worked and the staff can be dismissive and borderline racist in dealing with overseas citizens who have come there to have a good time with their families. We left with a very bad 2 day experience and the nonchalant attitude of their client service manager just made it a very bitter experience. We booked supreme rooms and we had 3 rooms in total. Instead of relaxing at the end of day we found ourselves trying to find a bed to sleep on comfortably.

Breakfast and location was the only thing that was absolutely great. Other than that we would rather stay in a budget hotel which has much better service and dependable amenities.

When I checked out this morning of the hotel the desk clerk tried to charge me a hefty bill from the hotel bar that I didn't even visit. He insisted that I ordered 6 beer, 2 cocktails and other stuff the night before. When I asked for the receipt for the said bill, he looked in a folder full of paper bills from the bar, where of course he found nothing after wasting 10 minutes of my life. Extremely customer unfriendly considering I payed around 700 euro's for 2 nights and then to be treated as a liar! I wonder if they try to do this to all their customers to earn an extra buck.

As for the rooms, nothing special. Just your generic hotel room like you've seen already 100 times. Can't open windows, noisy air circulation. Only 3 elevators, so long waiting times. No stairs available. Location is OK.
