Leonardo Hotel Koln

Very basic hotel, rooms need a refurb and are far far too hot, bathrooms very small, noise from highway is an issue for sleeping and the pool area is run down. If you get a cheap price it is OK, if there is an event on and you are charged more than say 200 avoid. Staff were ok and local amenities are good, supermarket, bar and food.

Room was okay, mostly clean - little bit of damp in the bathroom but nothing major. We were a few rooms away from the lift, but it was still very noisy for my partner who struggled to sleep because of it. In a double bed, we got two single duvet covers.

The service at the hotel was good, the receptionist was lovely and very helpful. Reception was unmanned at times during the evening though.

The facilities were my main problem, the swimming pool was freezing cold and never heated up during the specified "peak times" when the sauna was on. The pool ladders were wobbly, not very stable. It wasn't that clean either, it doesn't feel like it's maintained. The sauna is turned on for a few hours, although if you request for it to be put on earlier at reception, they're supposed to turn it on for you, but it wasn't turned on when we enquired about it, the receptionist just said "it is already on" - it wasn't. Sauna wasn't too bad, but very small and not much room.

We ended up going to a different hotel after the first night as my partner didn't manage to sleep due to the lift noise, and I didn't feel comfortable using the hotel facilities. I don't think we will be going back.

Ridiculously bare basic hotel. Pillows are just lumps of rags, never seen pillows this old used in any hotels.
We chose this hotel for its proximity to the fair grounds. It’s a mistake!!
The reason for 2 stars is that the sheets look clean and they put a bottle of water.
We asked for extra pillows and were told to come downstairs and get them. And yes the hotel claims to have stars, and 4 of them at that 😒.
Location is close to the koelnmesse but the area looks rather bad and not walking distance to anywhere

Would never stay here again.
If I could cancel the reservation I immediately would.

Not good.
1. there was a bloodstain on the pillow and the blanket. As well as some dirt. i wonder if Annie is OK？
2. receptionist guy was not very helpful and also vague in his explanation.
3. breakfast was fine
4. beds were not super comfortable as they are 2 beds pushed together.
5. no bottle opener for the free water. We now know why its free. Thanks for the key.
6. sauna is cold

I would rate it 3/8, but since I cannot, I will give it 2/5. Also dead rat outside.
