Reviews
Pros: Bed was comfy and large room, bathtub in the unit, elevator
Cons: No AC (I was not aware of this prior to booking/ couldn't find any information online); Front staff is from Argentina and did not know much about the area/ could not provide any recommendations; Room was filthy - sheets, furniture and baseboards were dusty and had a lot of long black hair, had to change sheets with set front desk gave me (no assistance on changing the sheets) and the sheets were twin size for the double bed; Fan provided was extremely dusty as if never cleaned in 5 years; Front facing to a bar that was up partying until 3am and then trash trucks come at 5-6am so it was extremely noisy. Since room was very hot, and the noise outside made it impossible to open windows and get a good night sleep. Also room next to me was being painted and the smell lingered into my room. Room provided bare minimum - no coffee or tea maker, have to ask for a fan. Area around metro is a little diverse and a lot of people sitting in the park drinking so be aware of your surroundings when walking, especially at night. Also the red light district is about a block or two away - be advised.
Location was the only thing really going for it. I would only stay again in very cold months and on the back side of the hotel, not by the street.
Cleanliness Issues
The cleanliness was subpar, with common areas and my room showing clear signs of neglect. Dust and grime made for an uncomfortable environment.
Accessibility Concerns
The absence of an elevator was a significant inconvenience. Carrying luggage up several flights of stairs after a long day was frustrating and exhausting.
Breakfast Disappointment
Breakfast was another letdown. The limited selection lacked freshness and variety, feeling more like an afterthought than a proper meal to start the day.
Conclusion
Overall, I cannot recommend this hotel. If you’re seeking comfort, cleanliness, and a decent breakfast, I suggest looking elsewhere. There are certainly better options available in the area.
The hotel was clean and the room I had was with a balcony overlooking the back of the property and was very quiet. The hotel had many amenities such as free wifi, toiletries and hairdryer.
The staff were great, friendly and helpful. Especially the lady working at breakfast who was very efficient and hard working, with breakfast served from 6am to 10 am during the week, half an hour later at weekends. Breakfast was excellent, a buffet style with plenty of choices including warm bread and plenty of fresh fruit.
A pleasant hotel and a very positive stay.
Longest check-out of my life
Shower gel / soap is the same
Rooms aren't soundproof and you can hear everything from other rooms / corridor.
Heating was broken in our room - although it was working well in the bathroom.
The standards of this establishment represents a low class backpackers with old broken furniture, stains on the carpet, doors hanging off hinges, used earbuds in the hallway plus room not ready at check in time and no apology. The rooms have no resemblance to the photos on their website. The cherry on top was the staff who don’t understand the meaning of service.
As a result we requested to cancel the remainder of our booking. The hotel manager advised to contact their head office and showed no interest or care factor.
Head office refused to refund our remaining nights even when we offered to only get 50% back. I suspect they get many of these requests and therefore don’t entertain refunds. Additionally they accused us of refusing to accept a different room which was never offered. Sadly, we decided to stay another night. However after 2 nights we just couldn’t cope with the unbearable noise at night, the horrible surroundings and the ongoing immaturity and rudeness of the staff so we left early loosing 2 nights of accomodation. Well done Hotel Horror you win! I just hope future guests read this before they book.
Pros:
Friendly Staff: The people at the front desk were nice and accommodating. They let us store our bags for free, which was a big help.
Free Wi-Fi: The Wi-Fi was free and worked well during our stay.
Breakfast Buffet: The breakfast buffet was decent, providing a good start to the day.
Central Location: The hotel is centrally located, making it easy to get to different places in the city.
Small Balcony: Our room had a small balcony with chairs, which was a nice touch.
Cons:
Unsafe Surroundings: Every time we left the hotel, we encountered people on drugs, passed out, washing themselves in the fountain, and even witnessed a man and woman hitting each other. The area around the hotel felt very unsafe.
Expensive Rates: We paid $1,044 for three nights (Wednesday - Saturday), which was very expensive for what we received.
No AC or Fan: There was no air conditioning or fan in the room. We had to sleep with the window and balcony door open, hoping no one would enter during the night.
No Safe: There was no safe in the room to store valuables.
No Wash Cloths: The hotel did not provide wash cloths.
Poor Shower Design: The shower nozzle was pointed toward the shower curtain, causing water to shoot out and soak the bathroom floor. You had to hold onto the nozzle the entire time to direct the water properly.
Lack of Toiletries: Instead of separate body wash, shampoo, and conditioner, there was a "3-in-1 gel."
No Refrigerator: The room did not have a refrigerator.
Potential Noise: Although we didn't experience noise, other reviews mentioned that the club across the street could be loud.
Overall, the negative aspects far outweighed the positives. For the price we paid, the experience was not worth it. I do not recommend staying here. Consider booking early to find a better option in Munich.
Edit: I’d like to clarify a couple of points in response to the hotel's comments. My description of the surroundings was based on my personal experience and what I observed during my stay. Also, while the hotel mentioned that fans are available on request, we weren't informed of this when we mentioned the room was hot. It's good to know fans can be requested, but this information would have been really helpful during our stay.
