Centro Hotel Mondial

I recently stayed at this hotel in Munich and had a mostly bad experience. Here's a rundown of my stay:

Pros:

Friendly Staff: The people at the front desk were nice and accommodating. They let us store our bags for free, which was a big help.
Free Wi-Fi: The Wi-Fi was free and worked well during our stay.
Breakfast Buffet: The breakfast buffet was decent, providing a good start to the day.
Central Location: The hotel is centrally located, making it easy to get to different places in the city.
Small Balcony: Our room had a small balcony with chairs, which was a nice touch.

Cons:

Unsafe Surroundings: Every time we left the hotel, we encountered people on drugs, passed out, washing themselves in the fountain, and even witnessed a man and woman hitting each other. The area around the hotel felt very unsafe.
Expensive Rates: We paid $1,044 for three nights (Wednesday - Saturday), which was very expensive for what we received.
No AC or Fan: There was no air conditioning or fan in the room. We had to sleep with the window and balcony door open, hoping no one would enter during the night.
No Safe: There was no safe in the room to store valuables.
No Wash Cloths: The hotel did not provide wash cloths.
Poor Shower Design: The shower nozzle was pointed toward the shower curtain, causing water to shoot out and soak the bathroom floor. You had to hold onto the nozzle the entire time to direct the water properly.
Lack of Toiletries: Instead of separate body wash, shampoo, and conditioner, there was a "3-in-1 gel."
No Refrigerator: The room did not have a refrigerator.
Potential Noise: Although we didn't experience noise, other reviews mentioned that the club across the street could be loud.
Overall, the negative aspects far outweighed the positives. For the price we paid, the experience was not worth it. I do not recommend staying here. Consider booking early to find a better option in Munich.

Edit: I’d like to clarify a couple of points in response to the hotel's comments. My description of the surroundings was based on my personal experience and what I observed during my stay. Also, while the hotel mentioned that fans are available on request, we weren't informed of this when we mentioned the room was hot. It's good to know fans can be requested, but this information would have been really helpful during our stay.

good location and for the price at the timeframe of late September/October. However, i would never stay here again and this hotel me aware of things to lookout for when booking a hotel. It was hot when i last visited Munich, and as this hotel has no air condition, we had to leave the windows open. The issue isn't that there wasn't air-condition, but this hotel is located across the street from a night club, Bar and restaurants. all night long the bass was pumping, people were laughing and screaming, cigarette smoke from below entered the room through the open window and the restaurants cleaning up after hours would dump glass into the recycle bin next to the hotel. Even super early in the morning the trash trucks and recycling would pick up glass bottles at 05:00 maybe even earlier and dump them into the truck. There's no sleeping through the night here. honest story.

This hotel is centrally located, that is about the only positive thing to say about it. Housekeeping came daily but only to change towels. Bedding not changed, we had to place our dirty glasses and cups in the bathtub with our dirty towels in order for housekeeping to take them away.

The elevator was out of order our entire stay and from reading other reviews, its been that way for awhile.

The breakfast buffet it over priced for the selection. Better value at the restaurant next door.

Not likely to book with this hotel again.

!!!!!!BEDBUG WARNING!!!!
The room I was staying in was FULL of bed bugs! After showing the bites AND the bugs to the front desk, we were moved to a suite that was ALSO INFESTED!! We left to stay elsewhere and now customer service is DENYING a refund, despite a medical certificate from world-renowned dermatologist and photo evidence of the bugs in their hotel.

Cancelled Oktoberfest 2020. Hotel will not refund money. ...Even though Americans are not allowed to travel to Germany Their rates were inflated when i booked because of Oktoberfest....now their rooms are $67 a night. I paid almost $800 for 3 nights. Every place else was vey gracious in refunding ...not them....they must be desperate.

Good Hotel location and very hygienic. Service in the Hotel is not good. We are staying for 5 nights and have requested for Ventilator since we are not comfortable without air flow. We have been getting standard answer from last two days "if I have then I give you". It now depends on our luck if they can find, unfortunately they have not been able to find. Bit cold people.
