The Westin Grand Munich in Munchen

As a Marriott Bonvoy member, my expectations are naturally shaped by the consistently high standards of the brand. Choosing Marriott, and especially Westin, usually means attention to detail, care for the guest, and a certain level of excellence — and I must say that this stay fully confirmed it.

From the very first moment, the entire staff was exceptional. The check-in experience was warm and professional, and every interaction with the reception team was marked by genuine kindness and attentiveness. I was pleasantly surprised to meet several Italian trainees, all of them extremely polite, well-mannered, and clearly well trained — a real credit to the hotel.

What impressed me most was the overall atmosphere created by the staff. Many of them were working in a country that is not their own, yet they managed to convey a remarkably warm and welcoming attitude. There was a small misunderstanding at the beginning of my stay, which was handled immediately and in an exemplary manner, turning a potential issue into a demonstration of true professionalism.

The breakfast was simply outstanding — rich, varied, and of excellent quality. Truly a “mega” breakfast, offering everything one could wish for. The lounge area is also very pleasant, elegant, and well maintained, making it a lovely place to relax.

If I were to mention a minor area for improvement, it would be the spa. The water temperature felt slightly cool, and the spa area could benefit from better organization. That said, these are aspects that can certainly be refined over time and do not detract significantly from the overall experience.

What truly made the difference, however, was the human factor. From the receptionists to the concierge, from greetings in the hallways to daily interactions, every member of staff was genuinely kind and attentive. I was always greeted, acknowledged, and treated with respect. Over the course of four days, I truly felt at home — welcomed, recognized, and valued as a guest. It is a wonderful feeling, and not something to be taken for granted.

My sincere compliments to the entire team. I very much hope to return soon and relive this beautiful experience. I could not leave without sharing such a positive and heartfelt review.

The location is a bit outside the city center but there is a subway station a 5 minute walk away. It’s a solid choice at which to stay, but a few things troubled me. I choose Westin because of its consistent “Heavenly“ comfort bedding. While the mattress was comfortable, the pillows were not standard Westin issue and they were very uncomfortable, not firm or supportive enough. (And I’m not that picky about pillows!) When I asked if Housekeeping had any other types of pillows available, I was first told yes, but ultimately told no. Consequently, i did not sleep well throughout my stay. The Westin Club evening food is not nice canapes and hors d’oeuvres, but a full fledged dinner buffet with items like meatloaf and mashed potatoes with families and screaming children plowing through. The lounge sadly lacks an exclusive, luxury ambiance like other Westin lounges. It is set up more like a restaurant with tables and chairs, only 2 sofas for more comfort. The staff up there were not very warm or friendly. Finally, there was never a sense of welcome or warmth at the front door-- no staff or doorman to greet or assist in 4 days. Shocking! Furthermore, only saw a bellman or concierge at their stations once in 4 days, and that was only because a Viking tour group was arriving. Once they got settled, never saw staff again for the duration of my stay. Where was everyone? The Paulaner German restaurant on site was excellent as was the hotel’s daily breakfast buffet.

Our experience in Munich was outstanding, thanks to the Westin staff and facilities, they did make our trip to be memorable. Maja from Front Desk was absolutely great, her customer service was personalized and professionally executed. Maja you’re a rockstar! The rooms were neat and very comfortable, breakfast in the morning was delicious. The location is 3 min walking distance from the U tram station and there are many stores around in the Arabellapark neighborhood.
Don’t want to forget to mention the concierge gentleman that helped us taking our bags to the room, unfortunately I don’t know the name, but he was very sweet and friendly. Thank you.

The hotel is great and the service staff is very good. Although it is a little far from the city, it is very close to the subway and very convenient

The hotel is located a certain distance from the city, but it is very convenient to take the subway. The service and attitude of the staff are very good, giving people a feeling of home. The appearance and interior decoration of the hotel are very grand, with a strong aura, giving people a very comfortable feeling.

The room has ample space, good sound insulation, and very good lighting. However, the facilities in the room are relatively old, there is a noticeable friction between the quilt and the skin, and the towels are not very fluffy, which means that the hotel's linens are "battle-hardened", but please rest assured that the hygiene conditions are still good. The most annoying thing is that the water temperature in the shower room often fluctuates, and users cannot fully enjoy the relaxation brought by the shower. Instead, they worry about whether the water temperature will change suddenly in the next second.

The breakfast is fully self-service, with a wide variety of options. There are six or seven kinds of juice alone, which can be said to be very rich. All kinds of food are safe and delicious, and it is a satisfying experience to enjoy breakfast here.

It was a relaxing night. Great pool. And good variety for breakfast. Good value for the money.
