Reviews
Throughout the week, we found ourselves wondering why room service wasn't coming every day and had to constantly ask the front desk to send room service because we needed the necessities like towels and water. While our friend was taking a shower in their room, a fist sized rock came falling out of the ceiling and hit the toilet. Luckily it did not hit anyone but it was very shocking.
Towards the middle of the week, things definitely got better.
There were certain staff members who were amazing (lobby bar staff) but a lot of the time the staff wasn't as kind and didn't seem to want to help.
The resort itself was very well kept and clean. And, the beach was absolutely beautiful. When it came to the food at the resort, it was better certain days and times. If you got to the buffet right when it opened for breakfast, lunch, etc, it was better but still not great.
Overall, it was not a bad resort, it was just a rough start.
* The rooms are a bit on the small side, but they were clean and comfortable.
* The food was good, but not amazing. There is a variety of restaurants to choose from, so you should be able to find something you like.
* The beach is beautiful, but the waves can be a bit rough. There are also vendors selling souvenirs on the beach, which can be annoying for some people.
Overall, I had a great experience at Vista Sol and would recommend it to others looking for an affordable all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana.
This place would have been great if staff didn’t pick & choose what rules they wanted to implement, if they didn’t discriminate, if they spoke enough English to be able to communicate effectively w/ the guest and help and understand accordingly.
I’ve read through all the negative 2/3 star reviews & they an are ALL true!
But let’s start..
family vacation of over 20 people.
Room: Our room was outdated & our a/c didn’t work. We were in building 4 - that building seemed older. Asked for a crib & didn’t get one even after requesting so my husband & I had to get creative with our room set up for our baby
Food: Mid, hit or miss, no fine dining
They make up their own rules: I have a 15 month old who is over stimulated by eating around others, she throws tantrums and can cause a real disturbance, not to mention at times she’s a picky eater so I try to bring food to her. While on the sign it says thanks for not taking food out the cafeteria - it’s doesn’t state food in not allowed to come out of the buffet area.
I made my daughter a plate, and proceeded to walk out, and the hostess CAROLINA HERNADEZ said to me in broken English no food take out… I tried explaining my situation and due to her not knowing English we couldn’t truly get anywhere - when she noticed that I wasn’t going to budge because my child needed to eat she said this one time only today..
Next day, I don’t plan on getting in the pool, I had on a bra crop top and midi skirt, & shoes when I walked in - same hostess CAROLINA HERNANDEZ said no bikini allowed & that I had to leave- at this point I 100% feel targeted because I was not wearing a bikini top - I had on a full outfit… she threatened to call security in which I yelled please call security! She eventually walked away, I got my daughter food, & I proceed to go to guest services to complain - and that lady doesn’t speak English either. Again - can’t understand my grievance & said the other lady was in the right although they couldn’t show me any rules that explicitly say you cant come in dining with a crop top & midi skirt OR you can’t take food out. Mind you the whole week I’ve seen people with swim suits in the buffet area… it was not ok.
The pool area bar closes at 6pm no mention to when cut off is. It’s 5:50, we ask for a drink, “oh bar is closed” I ask well when is cut off, no response but “bar is closed” because they don’t speak English.
Another situation - I get in the pool with my daughter - life guard says oh children need a life jacket.. mind you same life guard didn’t mention that the day before when we were in the pool. It says in the rules “should” not need or must. & there were other kids in the pool with no floaters.
Next issue Staff are rude & don’t care about what’s going on with you.
97% of all workers do not speak enough English to perform their job duties. And it wasn’t ok, every guest I was crossing although they were from across the world they all spoke English. I thought I was the only one frustrated by this until I crossed a French couple in speaking in English to staff saying it was 10pm, and their room is still not cleaning and ready. Another guest had to stop and translate for the couple. It’s a huge problem here when you need help, and consideration. Spanish and English is a must.
Last scenario didn’t happen to me personally - but happened to a family member. While they were checking out they were told by guest services they couldn’t leave because they broke a mirror in their room. My family stated they had already notified them of everything that was broken in the room including the mirror and when it was time to leave tried to pin it on them - wouldn’t let them leave & was about to make them miss the shuttle to the airport to catch their flight.
Service, food and drinks were overall good, however your options are limited for drink type. It is a natural beauty, beaches are really nice, no rocks etc....highly recommend.
•AC sucks - all the rooms smell musty
•Buffet area has no AC, it is insanely hot and humid, ceiling fans that barely make any difference. And you are forced to sit in heat and humidity to eat your food while sweating. It's so unpleasant. Not to mention the food is sitting in heat all day, not even over ice. Major health hazard.
•No wifi anywhere, aside from the beach
•The shuttle never picked us up from the airport
•Food is atrocious, there is no FINE dining. Not a single restaurant, including the buffet, had good food.
• barely any chicken, mostly park throughout all dining
•Pools are dirty, ducks swimming and pooping in them
•It's not all inclusive, there are upcharges and extras you have to pay for, like using a security deposit box
•hotel nurses and medics are absolute thieves taking advantage of tourists in their most vulnerable state.
•The staff were all so unfriendly and unhelpful, unlike any other resorts we've been to.
•No shampoo or conditioner in showers
•Power went out multiple times every day, and it wasn't during a rainstorm.
• Water smelled like sulfur
•Our hotel room was never cleaned unless we asked them to clean it, and even then only the beds were made.
•none of the telephones in any room worked, if you wanted room service you had to walk all the way down to the lobby, which is pretty far no matter which tower you're in. Or if there was an emergency, how do you contact the front desk?
•blankets are not blankets, they're a tiny bit thicker than the sheets
•bugs in all rooms
•rooms are very dated, facilities worn down
