No one speaks English, they’re rude to non Spanish speaking customers, room is dated and never cooled down, food at buffet is nasty, pool is pretty, entertainment at pool is lame, beach is SMALL, “snacks” at the sports bar were hot chocolate and soup! When I booked the room the reviews were pretty good. A week or so before my trip they were horrible but it was too late! Please go to a nicer resort!

This was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. We walked in and I nearly panicked that the photos online were very deceitful. The rooms and bathrooms are NOT as pictured online. They are gross. Mold in the bathroom, bed like concrete. Horrible. We requested a different room which was a very slight improvement in the bed only. We booked at the RIU for the rest of the trip, another $1022. Do NOT waste your money. I will say the pool looked nice but we only saw at night. We were out of there by 6am.

If I could leave zero stars I would. Worst experience ever. We had to change rooms three times due to the mold, cigarette smell, clogged toilet and dirty state of the rooms. There’s little to no entertainment. Let’s get to the staff. Other than 3 staff members, the staff were rude, cold and not accommodating. My friend had a bad cough and during one evening she we were lounging in the lounge, asked a staff for a glass of water and instead of getting her some water, he pointed to the bar and said the bar is over there. She asked if he can get her some, he said he cannot. I don’t know if it’s because we were both black women, but you could feel the racism. They sneered, laughed and mocked at us in Spanish and my friend checked them a few times as she understood them. The food was horrendous, there were a bunch of sketch men hanging around the resort and beach that hit on us and asked for our numbers. We did not feel safe. I’ve heard horror stories about the racism in DR but it broke my heart being treated like garbage by this resort. No matter how good the deal is, please save your money and go elsewhere, maybe you won’t find the ignorance that we experienced from a higher end resort. This was deplorable. Oh the Jacuzzi was like warm at best and cold most days.

Rude staff key stopped working, towel guy never on time, bar staff never smile, needs paint, shingles missing, security took towels, real joke.

Pros. Cleanliness. Beach. Location (close to the city) Food was good not great and lots of variety. Cons. Staff not the friendliest. Almost zero nightly entertainment. Pool was boring (zero staff animation) The resort it self was nicely kept and beautiful. Rooms were clean and all amenities operated as they should. My biggest drawback would be that in the evening this resort was very dull. Would I go back...... sure for the price you pay it's acceptable.

This was the cheapest all-inclusive 4* hotel on offer. In that sense, the price-quality ratio is okay. The hotel is outdated, shabby in places, but everything is functional except main pool. Among the good things, I would highlight the excellent food and friendly staff.
We stayed in August, which is the period when, unfortunately, the sea and some beaches are full of seaweed. The problem with this hotel is that the seaweed is not cleaned at all from its beach. You can't get to the sea, the seaweed stinks, some flies gather and everything looks very, very bad. I have attached a few photos. I have noticed that some other hotels are still trying to clean the seaweed. By using machinery, and a lot of it can be removed from the beaches. However, VIK did absolutely nothing. Considering that one of the two existing pools is being renovated and is not functional, the entire hotel is left with only the second pool for swimming. That is really poor. We had no choice but to go swimming at Macao beach. It is very beautiful there and there is no seaweed. But unfortunately, such trips are not cheap.

We are the group of 17 people, from Toronto, Canada, booked the package (Aug. 9-16 cost $1439/person) at VIK Hotel Arena Blanca in April, 2025 through Selloff vacation for Air Transat provider for family and friend reunion vacation and our granddaughter’s birthday. When we arrived to the resort. We very disappointed and couldn’t believe the resort is running so badly, they don’t care and it seems the business is going closed soon or change the new management - The furniture is out of dated - One bigger/main pool is renovation, the dust guard is not high enough for the safety, so the dust and pollution were all over on the walkway and into second pool. - No entertainment at night or any activities during the day - Food is bad and smelly - The lounge at the lobby no tea/milk, there is a hot water - Not fill the drink supply in the small fridge (it is empty) - Beach is full seaweed, no clean-up, brough a concern, the receptionist said that the contractor comes only one a week to clean the seaweed We had to move to another resort, Sunscape Resort in our own expenses. (We have been at Sunscape resort last Aug., so we knew that is the best resort)

During my stay at this hotel, I had the worst experience of my life at the hotel spa. I received a massage from an unqualified person named Ralph. He injured me, and I was unable to walk for two days after the massage. When I returned to Canada, my doctor diagnosed me with a herniated disc. A little advice: avoid the spa.

The place is very depressing, It should be demolished and rebuild it. I booked for four days and left the hotel the next day. It’s awful from the entrance to the beach. Not a place to stay and enjoy. Don’t waste your money and time.

You get what you pay for, this was one of the lower priced all inclusive I found on Cheap Caribbean. Staff was friendly (though not all spoke English) and housekeeping did a great job tidying up and replacing towels daily. The property shows its age. My favorite spot was the open air lobby with a nice breeze, a tucked away bar, and comfortable seating, I spent most days there relaxing with drinks and coffee. Dining was hit or miss. There’s a Mexican and an Italian restaurant; both were mediocre, but Mexican was better. The buffet was the best option overall, with more variety and something for everyone. Drinks were just okay, light on liquor and many tasted the same. There’s one main pool and another for VIP guests (not worth the upgrade). A third pool is under construction, and the noise from jackhammers was constant during my stay. Rooms were basic and dated. My garden “suite” had old tiles, worn furniture, patio doors that didn’t lock and had a gap, and a bathroom with heavy soap scum, water leaks, and poor fixtures. AC was unreliable — only 2 of our 4 rooms had working units, and even then, they blew cool air at best. Overall, we still had a good time because we knew not to expect luxury. This resort could earn better reviews with serious updates to its rooms, amenities, and maintenance.
