Reviews
We stayed in August, which is the period when, unfortunately, the sea and some beaches are full of seaweed. The problem with this hotel is that the seaweed is not cleaned at all from its beach. You can't get to the sea, the seaweed stinks, some flies gather and everything looks very, very bad. I have attached a few photos. I have noticed that some other hotels are still trying to clean the seaweed. By using machinery, and a lot of it can be removed from the beaches. However, VIK did absolutely nothing. Considering that one of the two existing pools is being renovated and is not functional, the entire hotel is left with only the second pool for swimming. That is really poor. We had no choice but to go swimming at Macao beach. It is very beautiful there and there is no seaweed. But unfortunately, such trips are not cheap.
The bar was another letdown. Most of the alcohol is low quality, in plastic bottles, and only two “premium” options cost extra. I didn’t expect luxury, but I did expect decent service. Many staff members were cold, avoided eye contact, and didn’t even return greetings. It wasn’t just me others noticed it too.
The resort is huge, so expect long walks between your room, the pool, and the restaurants. Beach cleaning happens during peak hours, which feels unsafe and poorly planned.
On the positive side, housekeeping was great the room was always clean. Buffet food was average with little variety. The à la carte restaurants were better, but service still felt forced.
Tipping shouldn’t be the only way to get treated with respect. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel unless service and hospitality improve.
The hotel is clean but extremely old. A lot of safety concerns since many things are falling apart . I guess the resort will be much nicer once they complete renovations.
The drink selection is terrible so I suggest you bring your own liquor because it’s all cheap here and no real fruit juices. I was extremely disappointed being in a Caribbean island and not having real fruit juices. The soda tastes old, flat and diet. I basically drank water the entire week because there is nothing worthy of drinking.
There is NO disco despite what the website says. There’s entertainment in the theatre at 9:30pm but after there there’s Absolutely nothing going on and barely any music. It’s boring. They basically played the same 4 songs on repeat. At the very least they could play more music and have a lively atmosphere
They should keep the snack bar by the beach / pool open after the buffet closes to have more options to eat especially after drinking.
There seems to be no designated area for smoking and everyone just lights up anywhere all day long. Even with children around. The beach is beautiful however you get harassed every minute to buy things. Can’t even sit in peace.
All around this place is OK but it needs a lot of work and definitely is for the elderly
