The beach was absolutely stunning, just as beautiful as the photos online, if not more. This is truly the perfect place for anyone looking for a vacation filled with relaxation, sunshine, and fun. A special thank you to Elvin and the rest of the staff for making our stay feel like home. The warmth, kindness, and genuine hospitality we experienced meant more than words can say. I truly cannot recommend this place enough.
Be sure to book the steakhouse. I highly recommend the New York steak. Everything was made fresh and was absolutely delicious. The rooms were spectacular as well; every detail exceeded expectations.
Overall, everything about this stay was exceptional, and I would happily return
When checking into the resort please let the bell staff know you are staying in a Privilege room as Privilege has a separate check in area. Additionally if you have a medical condition making it difficult to navigate stairs, please note that there are no elevators in the buildings so you may want to ask for a room on the ground floor (we did this at the time we made our reservation and the staff was great in accommodating the request).
In regard to meal options, there are many. The buffet was great as was the Japanese restaurant. The Italian restaurant was ok. Other members of our family ate at the Mexican restaurant and Route 66 and said the food was ok. No one in our group ate at the steak house as the steaks we like had a up charge of $50 to $100 per person.The service at all the restaurants was great!! All of the bar service was great, with some of the bars serving top shelf liquor!!
If you are a beach person and would like a cabana or chairs with an umbrella you will need to be out on the beach early as most are taken by 8:00 AM or earlier.
We used the Privilege pool and the 2 attendants, Carlos and Daniel, were superb! There were plenty of towels and both Carlos and Daniel made sure we always had plenty of drinks and food! I recommend if you want pool chairs with umbrellas, you need to get them early as most are taken by 9:00 AM and only chairs without umbrellas are left.
The only issue we had was that on 2 different evenings we had no hot water and 1 morning we had no cold water. Both of these issues were eventually resolved.
The best restaurant was Blue moon and Japanese. The only thing that calmed me down and make everything looks better was the ocean and beach.
To start, this hotel doesn’t look as nice in person. The decor is dated, it’s a bit weathered and not really worth the “5-star” title or price tag. Nonetheless, the rooms were decent and the staff were great with room service, cleaning and maintaining the grounds. There was a lot of seaweed at the beach, but they removed as much as possible everyday. Security was very tight.
The food tasted okay and there was a good variety at El Carey & La Tortuga buffet, but after a few days it became repetitive. Sometimes the hot food was cold or cold foods were warm. Also, with the exception of Bodegon steak house, it was a hassle to make reservations at the dinner restaurants only to end up disappointed. And it’s weird that the ice cream stand is closed during the day but open at night.
The amenities and entertainment offered were mostly boring. A baseball batting cage that only opened at night. Bowling if you’re okay wearing stinky shoes. A casino to spend even more money. An overpriced spa. A small gym located off to the side in the bushes. And beach chairs that get claimed by 8am and hogged all day long. I enjoyed Bingo but it was a short 30 min game for one night during my stay.
My opinion of this hotel really changed after experiencing the “presentation.” I was pressured to purchase a vacation club membership and they refused to accept no for an answer. They were aggressive and in the end wasted 3 hours my precious vacation time. That along with constantly dodging sellers for excursions or cheap souvenirs all over the resort ruined my relaxing vacation.
Four days into our stay at Ocean Blue and Sand, we felt compelled to recognize the incredible experience provided by Daniel De La Rosa, Carlos Charles, and Antonio Gomez at the Privilege pool and bar.
Daniel De La Rosa truly stands out. He is attentive, proactive, and genuinely cares that guests are having a great experience. He consistently checks in, goes out of his way to help when needed, and does so with warmth, professionalism, and a constant smile. His positive energy has made a real difference in our stay.
Carlos Charles is equally welcoming and upbeat, and together they create a relaxed, friendly atmosphere that makes you feel comfortable and well looked after.
Antonio Gomez is a fantastic bartender with great knowledge of the rum selection and a clear passion for what he does, which made time at the bar even more enjoyable.
These three are the face of the Privilege pool area and do an outstanding job. They have already made our stay memorable, and we can’t recommend them enough.
The hotel is constantly being maintained and this provides facilities in good condition.
The all-inclusive is great, breakfast and lunch buffet with a wide variety and good seasoning.
Of the a la carte restaurants, I would give special mention to the Sensai Japanese restaurant... and not to forget the cafeteria open all day.
We would definitely like to return!
