Hurghada Coral Beach Hotel

I don’t normally write reviews of hotels, however, feel compelled to write one on this occasion. When we arrived at the hotel reception we were met with no pleasant ‘Hello’ or ‘Welcome’ the guy at reception took our passports & then came back to state we needed to pay 40USD due to the fact we were over the age of 40??!! I have never heard of this in all my years of travelling & visiting hotels abroad! He was not very clear why we needed to pay this, even though we questioned this over & over. He stated our tour operator booked through a ‘supplier’ & this so called ‘supplier’ was asking for the payment stating we should not have been allowed the discount we were given??? We did not get a discount, we booked directly with on the beach!!! We asked for the hotel manager, he came but just said the same thing! We were advised we would get our money back from our tour operator (on the beach) & that this is normal & happens on a daily basis???!!!! I asked if we could speak to our travel operator the next morning before paying, but they would not budge & were not helpful AT ALL!!! Myself & my friend were NOT HAPPY!! We managed to speak to on the beach luckily & they did confirm we would get our money back if we sent them the receipt, so we paid, but all in all it took 45mins - 1hr to sort out! We were tired & just wanted to get to our room to sleep but they had us held hostage with the only option to pay!! I think this is DISGUSTING! They should allow guests into their rooms to relax & speak to their tour operator at their leisure before paying! It just seems like a way for them to make an extra buck! Many of the other hotel guests we spoke to had the same issue & felt bullied into paying. Even if the tour operator refunded guests, that’s not the point, the issue should be dealt with directly between the hotel, the ‘supplier’ & the tour operator so the guests are not burdened. Having said that, the actual hotel is lovely. Fairly quiet, but that was due to the time of the year. Very large complex which was clean & well maintained. Nice swimming pools & lovely beach areas to sunbathe. Our room was lovely & large, clean with a sea view, so cannot complain there. Food was pretty good, the lunch & evening meals consisted of rice, seasoned potato wedges, moussaka, lasagne, fish, kebabs, Spagetti bolognese, selection of salads & desserts. Cannot say the same about the breakfast which was pretty bad, they did have freshly made omelettes, but only a mix of peppers & onions, no other filling options. They also had mashed potato as part of the breakfast which is bizarre! They also had pastries available. Can’t fault the animation team, they were great & not too pushy. Plenty of daily outdoor activities including stretching, yoga, darts & belly dancing, then live entertainment in then evening such as Latin dancers, Egyptian dancers, fire show etc. This hotel is a 35 min car ride from the main town of Hurghada & we used ABC taxi’s to get there which cost 200ED

We chose this hotel for the coral reef, but the exit to it was closed all the days of our stay, allegedly because of a small shark. Although you can swim nearby, I think they are too lazy to control this process. And the tourists will not go anywhere.
The food is tasty by Egyptian standards, the alcohol is Egyptian
The bed linen is clean
The rooms are a little tired, dirty
The territory was designed to be beautiful, but now it is in disrepair.

I chose this place based on the good recent reviews although if you don’t like to walk a lot this place is not for you (elderly people and babies) it’s huge place and everything is far. If your room is near to the restaurant you would need 10-15 min walk to the beach. There are cars from reception but still it takes a lot of time to go there and they are not available all the time. There are no phones working in the rooms in this spacious place you can’t call the reception to help you in anything. AC in reception, bar and restaurant is old you will feel hot all the time. During our time of stay there was water problem( no water for 2-3 hours although they are fixing that). The food is ok and there is a variety in launch and dinner nevertheless the breakfast is boring. Also my father was sick after eating fish so I don’t recommend it. Rooms are old. The greatest thing in this place is the beach the beach is huge and not crowded. There are two sides side for swimming and snorkeling where you can see beautiful corals and colorful fish and other side for relaxing. Also the staff is so helpful, cooperative and respectful. Room services is great. All inclusive drinks on pool and beach till 5 pm and in bar 24 hrs. The animation team is great all the day. At night there are nice shows that keeps everyone entertained. I only enjoyed the beach and the respectful staff otherwise I really was tired of walking and didn’t enjoy the food. I would never come back till these problems are solved.

This is a detailed review from the point of view of European tourists. Coral Beach Hotel is a cozy, quiet place where you don't feel crowded. The hotel's biggest advantages are the coral reef, a very nice and well-kept beach, room service, and very nice service. The biggest disadvantages are the quality and choice of food and the main pool.
