Reviews
Edit: The last interaction with the concierge was more amicable. Maybe chalk it up to an off day. I was able to get the air working eventually. Instructions would have been nice.
The breakfast was good with variety of choices, from a continental breakfast to fresh fruits and basic pattisery.
The only two things I liked the least were:
- lack of soundproof walls / floors and room's door - you can hear your neighbours
- the faked bath gel. The hotel uses the branded Sea of Spa containers but it pours in a basic bath detergent inside. I feel they used to use this brand but changed the liquids to a cheaper ones while keeping worn out containers.
The hotel is much darker than any of the photos, in dire need of renovation. Originally i agreed it met expectations of 3 star hotel rating, but the cleaner took our emptied luxury shopping bags/ branded gift boxes (never folded) / gift wrap sheets without consent which is stealing.
Never have i stayed at a hotel where any emptied luxury shopping bags were removed during my hotel stay period. Though given the state of the hotel, i had a hunch this would happen as we rushed to a super early daytrip. The removal of them was the first thing i noticed. I didn’t file a complaint as i did not feel safe in this terrible place
Edit: hotel states cleaners only garbage on top of garbage bin but the items were definitely not near the garbage bag which confirms our initial suspicions
In the room there was also a cattle to make coffee and tea. Nice touch. The minibar in the room was empty, but it was useful as we used it to keep our drinks cold. However, just round the corner there is a small shop to purchase something to drink and eat in the room. Very convenient.
The hotel provides good quality towels and shower gel, but no room slippers. Moreover, in the bathroom there is no bidet, no fan and no toilet brush which is a little bit weird not to find such an item.
Breakfast is served in a pretty area located on the ground floor that is clean and pleasant to spend time in. Overall breakfast is not the best as there is no so much variety of products; yet quality of food was good.
Coffee and other hot beverages were brewed by a machine as there is no bar in the breakfast room. For those who do not want to have breakfast in the hotel, just next door there is a small cafeteria that sell freshly made croissants.
Overall I would recommend Leonardo Hotel for its location and price. Good option for couples and families alike.
One particular incident highlighted the lack of consideration for guest comfort. With over 100 rooms in the hotel, I was shocked to find they had only two umbrellas available. When I inquired about this, the staff's response was incredibly rude, stating that it wasn't mandatory to provide umbrellas. While I understand it's not mandatory, the dismissive attitude and lack of effort to accommodate guests' needs were disappointing.
In comparison to other hotels in Barcelona and even Madrid, where basic amenities are typically provided without question, the service at Hotel Leonardo fell short. Overall, my experience left me feeling unsatisfied and unlikely to return or recommend this hotel to others.
