Very clean and comfortable hotel in a wonderful location in downtown Madrid. Close to subway but also within walking distance of many attractions. Having a suite with attached second room was really nice. Beds were very comfortable. We were so happy to have ended up here.

We are regular Madrid visitors and have stayed in fabulous and less fabulous accommodations. We've been wanting to try the Meninas for a while and were really looking forward to our stay here. Starting with the good. Location is great, just off Opera in a fairly quiet road considering how central it is. The hotel looks great from the outside and the decoration of the communal areas are very tasteful. Plenty of bars and restaurants nearby as well as a supermarket just opposite. Our room wasn't big nor small; just what we expected. The bathroom was large with a bath / shower and a bide which is always a plus. The bed and pillows were very comfortable.
Now the not so good... staff was hit and miss. There was a guy in reception that was extremely helpful, then there was a lady that most definitely had an attitude and everything seemed too much of a fuss.
The room wasn't dirty, but it was very dusty (weeks worth of dust in some areas). We also found this in the communal areas too. We reported a few issues that knew were fixable and although were repeatedly told that maintenance was on its way, they never got fixed. The room looked very tired. The decoration was questionable and there were 'patches' everywhere in the ceilings and walls where previous 'jobs' had been done.
The aircon system was falling apart and to get the room to a lower temperature through reception was definitely hard work, it's as if staff had been warned to save electricity wherever possible. We were with friends this weekend and they themselves experienced a large number of issues too. They had to change rooms and even with the 'upgraded room' they had similar issues to ours.
Overall, it wasn't a bad stay, but the hotel could definitely do with a bit of TLC and staff need to be more responsive to requests. I have stayed in much better 3 star hotels in Madrid. I'd give this hotel a 3 star tops.

Super helpful and polite staff, great rooms. Best location possible. Walking distance from Palacio Real, plaza mayor, plaza del sol, you name it. Totally recommend this.

Centrally located and the man at reception was helpful. It was extremely difficult to sleep at night due to noise, though, and the water drained too slowly in the bathroom sink.

Very nice small clean hotel in a good location, easy walking distance to everything Madrid has to offer…

My advice would be use the Taxis for the airport, trains & metro were very hard work!!

The only issue I had is that the wifi would not work on my room. It was very spotty, which was a bit annoying. Otherwise, the hotel is very centrally located, clean, and quite quaint.

Hotel is very small but they took care of a few details and front desk is responsive and helpful. Taxi ordered by hotel was excellent. However, if you have a lot of luggage, their is no space on the superior 2 people bedroom. If you're backpacking, it's a good choice as room will be more manageable and location is excellent. However, anyone with more luggage should pay the extra amount to get more space or look elsewhere. Room looks bigger on photos due to the large mirror on the closet door but it's very cramped.

Nice clean and friendly hotel in an ideal location to explore Madrid. Room rather small and looks out onto light well, so rather dark. Good breakfast selection.
