Novotel Nice Centre Vieux Nice

This hotel is overpriced for the condition of the rooms. The only thing they seem to make sure looks nice is the outside and the lobby. Also the location is really close to a bus and tram station which makes it look like a great place to stay but it wasn’t safe to walk outside at night due to the sketchy people who live in the park by the tram. During the day it was ok because there were a lot of people around. For the price you pay per night, there are way nicer hotels. I have stayed in other Novotels that were lovely so I was embarrassed that I booked my friends and I to stay at this one. It felt like we got ripped off for how much we payed for such a run down hotel.

I have been to many hotels and never have I been treated so poorly. It started with being given the wrong room, moved to another room and then being accused by a woman at the front desk of not turning in both keys for the previous room. (We did), AND she accused me of "trashing" the previous room in the two minutes we were in there! It didn't get better from there...the new room was dirty, like someone's dried contact lenses on the floor, and old soap crusted on the shower soap dish dirty.
And low shower pressure.
The keys deactivated a couple of hours into our stay.
But it gets even better...you have to leave a deposit and pay a fee for towels for the pool or beach. I was totally fine with that however, when we went to pay for towels we were told we couldn't get beach/pool towels because we were with a travel group! What the actual f...?! At that point, I was done!
And one more thing...the marble cake on the breakfast buffet is cheap packaged store bought cake.
Never so glad to turn in a room key.
Good riddance NOvotel...you did not enhance my first visit to France.

Old and tired hotel with carpets that haven’t been replaced in probably over 2 decades. The room’s cleanliness was not the best (see old and stained carpets and tired furniture) but the bedding was clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. The room also had a strange smell although it was a nonsmoking room. Strong sewage gases came out of the bathroom sink every time we used it. Despite these problems, the staff was helpful and the location is a short tram ride away, or a 15-20 minute walk, from the old town. However I would not stay at this hotel again especially because the room rates were high for what it offers in return.
