Holiday Inn Thessaloniki, an IHG Hotel

Good and bad like anything else:
The Good:
Staff is kind and attentive. All speak English.
Hotel is 5 min walk from the sea and 10 min from the main tourist shops and cafes.
The hotel has guarded car parking which feels necessary out here.
Rooms are cleaned daily and sheets/towels are restocked.
A flat was provided for a 3rd person free of charge (big plus)

The Bad:
Bathroom has no ventilation; nowhere for smells to go.
Refrigerator in room did not work despite the hotel staff assuring me that a technician had checked it and it works fine.
Toilet seat shifts around like it’s about to come off.
Telephone was not working but technician replaced it(only care about it for calling front desk)
Parking is 10$/day on top of 130+$/night and 10$/night city tax.
No free breakfast… it’s 15 euros/person

Not as nice as American holiday Inn hotels. Building is older and full of small spaces which unfortunately is standard for this part of the world

Good and some bad.

Good: 1) great location 2) beautiful facilities 3) Hotel status was respected so I got late check out as silver member 4)manager and most employees so kind! Very surprised

Bad: 1) rude employee in the lobby complaining to me aggressively that slippers weren’t allowed, even though I was in lobby for 10 seconds 2) gym is very disappointing, the one weight machine the cables are all tangled so I couldn’t use it 3) children allowed in pool which is only good for max 4-5 adults. Non stop screaming, and splashing. My clothes got wet because hotel let children into pool 4) wish breakfast had more hot options like other IHG hotels 5) bar employees made me buy a drink to sit on the terrace but some Greek couple didn’t buy any drinks and just sat there. Very not fair that i have to spend money, but not them

Our experience at the hotel was a mix of positives and negatives. The first room had drainage issues, but the staff eventually upgraded us to a better room. The hotel's age shows, marked by an old-building smell and rather dated rooms. The parking is small; tolerable, yet not especially comfortable. On the plus side, the bar staff were notably friendly, and the breakfast was generally good, aside from the juices. It was a mixed experience, with room for improvement in some areas.
