That was the first time travelling to Turkey. I’ve spent some time choosing the hotel for accommodation for that period. And my election has fallen on Olimpic Hotel due to the many positive feedbacks.
I must assume, that a receptionist Ahmet made us a pleasant bonus and gave us a room with a view. For that we are grateful. Breakfasts were good, the view breathtaking. And seemed nothing would happen, but an unacceptable situation darkened our stay.
My friend has been checked out of the room one day earlier without any notification. And here is the question, whose mistake was it? Either lack of professionalism of reception or the housekeeping staff? Or their miscommunication. None of the measures to contact my friend were taken. And what the housekeeping staff did – they just thrown away my friend’s belongings in a trash bag. And this bag was full of wet wipes, tea bags, somebody’s underwear and discarded items.
I have a huge experience of working in hotels, and I was shocked by that staff actions. More than that, the girl whose shift was that day, hadn’t apologized, explained herself, offered any compensation.
My friend claimed to make an urgent laundry of the t-shirt and trousers within 5 hours the same day. However, the staff failed with the request. And even the next day by 9 am the clothes were not returned from laundry. The bag was delivered by 10 am, t-shirt was her’s but the pants were somebody else’s’. Since we had to run to a bus and a flight to catch, we didn’t have time to wait for the trousers and requested the hotel staff to send it via post. My friend left the address. By arriving to the airport my friend got a message from reception with a photo of another trousers but again not her’s. At that point we realized that they lost her clothing.
That was the last straw and we claimed for the compensation for the loss and the stress their irresponsibility and negligence caused. Instead of resolving that issue as the professionals they have questioned if she wasn’t ashamed of even asking for a compensation.
The staff of Olimpic Hotel appeared unprofessional, irresponsible and rude. They refused to provide any financial compensation, mentioning that it’s not their hotel policy. And that it’s just a random situation and we are making a fuss.
It was not even the matter of compensation, it was the matter of loyalty, hospitality, respect and attitude to the guests. The Hotel is making money by the arrival of tourists. It is the job of staff do their best for the guests to have a pleasant stay and memories, and what is more important the guest’s decision to return.
If the hotel manager doesn’t have any clue how to provide the service, how to teach his personnel to fulfill their duties, then he must learn himself, do his best, be an example for his subordinates.

Olympic hotel first impressions Everything was unprofessional, especially the receptionist is really rude, he trying to scam us. He said it was the hotel rule for normal standard room it should charge the room rent per night, not per head, he asked us to pay per head instead of per night he was asking to charge us per head ( two people in the room). Upon check out no one there at the reception or anyone to approach. We paid for 5 nights and end up check out after few hours as we are not comfortable with the rules by the hotel. And they said non refundable!!!!!

We have stayed olimpic hotel for 2 days during umrah trip 1-3 January. It was overall good . Ahmet was really helpful and very good breakfast was good ! Many thanks:)

I stayed for 4 days, 2 of which I didn't have electricity, the refrigerator in the room didn't work even though they said they would come to fix it, they didn't, the breakfast was pathetic, the reception staff knows 3 words in English, yes, no and I don't know. when I asked him about an external battery, he didn't even know what it was. I was offered 0 services and 0 kindness. if I wanted to have no electricity, I would stay in a tent and not spend money on the hotel. it's a pity for the good location it offers.

Our experience at this hotel was horrible.
Firstly, we did not get good service nor welcoming vibe from the receptionist at all. He spoke very fast in Turkish accent with poor manner and did not provide help in a friendly way. Secondly, the room was fairly small. There is a kettle but without any tea or coffee provided as it should have. What’s more shocking is that even a single bottle of water was NOT provided. We booked 2 rooms and the other room was the same. The bed was uncomfortable and the pillows were super flat. Furthermore, our door couldn’t be locked from the inside.
We must say that how we were treated as a guest of this hotel was very upsetting. Especially the receptionist’s behavior extremely disgusts us. If we had known this before, we would not have wasted any penny on this hotel.

Staff is friendly. But the hotel is in poor condition. The rooms are small and crowded. You pay too much for too little.

I haven't been to other hotels in Istanbul so I don't know how it compares to those. However, the location was good and the room service and front desk was helpful.
It's a little old and the rooms don't match up to even 4 star standards of Western countries. Their wifi was good (didn't always work).
It's super close to a lot of the main tourist attractions. This is a huge plus. Has a grocery store right across. Walking distance to some good restaurants and exchange offices. Close to Turkey train system.
Their breakfast area has a really nice view. And if you go up on the roof, it's even nicer (as long as it's not windy). The breakfast itself is humble compared to other places I've stayed. I really don't think other hotels in the area offer anything much better.
Your first impression will be that you made a huge mistake. But then you start to like the uniqueness of the place. Besides, most of your time you will be out of the hotel.

I have stayed in this hotel twice. I loved it. Yes the rooms are small, but clean and well appointed. The staff were happy and helpful. The back garden is a treasure to relax in. I absolultly loved the rooftop breakfast area with the panoramic views of Istanbul. I will come back.

This was my first stay in Istanbul, and this hotel made it so wonderful! It was so memorable, one of the best times of my life. The staff here are very very very friendly, and the rooms have their own charm. Every morning I would get up and go to the roof terrace to eat breakfast there. Pour myself a cappuccino at their automatic barista, and feast with an amazing view in front of me. When finished with my breakfast I could go and tour the many attractions of Istanbul, which from this hotel where only a walking distance away, it was just a few minutes away from everything! Don't even get me started about the amazing view of the sea outside of our hotel window! This is by far the best hotel I have ever stayed! Though, I don't know what changes this new renovation will bring, I highly recommend anyone to stay there when it opens up age this summer.
Oh, aswell I may add, that the man at the front desk was absolutely wonderful. He organized for us a very nice boat tour of the Bosphorus that was the highlight of my trip. He is very honest and gave wonderful advise on Istanbul and the things that we should watch out for. Very helpful for someone who is coming to Istanbul for the first time.
Looking back on my stay at this hotel I wish I was staying there again! It was so wonderful, and one of the best stays of my life!

The workers in the hotel were not so helpful,the maintenance is bad,we are old couple they kept shifting us from one room to another room the reason(which i don't believe) was due to do maintenance then after heavy rain in Istanbul suddenly the washroom roof start leaking the hotel asked us to move to other room in the terrace floor which was the bad room i ever see then we decide to leave the hotel
