I looked up this place before we booked our vacation to BG. I was very excited as we were meeting with friends and their children. Booking.com gives them an excellent rating, so I had high expectations.
Food was nothing special, small buffet bar that served the same food almost every day. Bar was a joke, they were serving level 1 cocktails and watered down vodka. No entertainment for the children was available. Place was clearly understaffed as there was no one at their Spa Center. No high speed WiFi!!
Lastly, their so called "animators" at the pool were extremely rude. One of the 15yo girls was so condescending to me when I told her that I did not want to participate in her "water aerobics". Glad that they were only there for not more than an hour.
Mediocre place, I would not return or recommend to any of my friends or family. Take your business elsewhere!!

UAI-they offer you all now at the highest price but in the lowest conditions. The hotel looks like is in the colapse!

This hotel is a bad joke. Spiders and ants in the room, old towels and matresses, extremely low quality for food and drinks. If they have a housekeeping manager and an F&B, they are paying them for nothing! It should get a maximum of 2 stars, absolute greediness everywhere: from bad taste food, to small paper cups so that you would not drink too much on the beach, private beach where everybody gets access, no cleaning in the room, tap water, wine that could not be drank. I have never experienced such a low level for a 4 star hotel. Shame on you, Astera Hotel & Spa Management!

Inadequate management. Unexperienced staff, hardly handle stressful situations and challenges. Managers were extremely rude and disrespectful, all they want is take your money rather than providing you a pleasant stay. Would not recommend.

very nice place, very close to the beach and lots of shops. Everyone will find something interesting to eat. I highly recommend it.

There is nothing 4 star about this hotel apart from the view, the staff are rude, rooms not cleaned, told this was normal. Food awful served in a dingy room, no where to eat outside. Staff on their phones, cant look you in the eye. Entertainment hardly existed here, animation didnt appear much, to do with the wind apparently. No heated pool, ala carte restaurant closed, no diet coke or sweeter for tea and coffee. Very few bulgarian staff, other staff on terrace kissing and cuddling in front of customers and asking customers for cigarettes. Avoid!

Service is horrible: most employees are tired and uncaring. There's often no pool towels available and the employee says there's nothing they can do. Likewise, there's a limited amount of tables and chairs at the rooftop bar, and even when there were tables but no chairs they couldn't find extra chairs and just said sorry there's nothing they can do. There is barely any insulation between rooms, and after complaining about loud teenagers who keep banging on doors in the middle of the night the staff doesn't seem to care or do anything about it.
The hotel markets several restaurants but only Aqua is opened. Likewise other facilities are closed without being informed on the website. The food in aqua is average. Always crowded with a long queue. The drinks at the bars are disappointing, the soda, beer and wine are self service and are very cheap options.
The so called private beach is not really private as other people from outside the hotel can also pay to stay there.

Bellow average hotel at Golden Sands. This resort use to be beautiful sea side place in a forest next to the beaches now just hotels next to other hotel extremely noisy and full with drunks

Warning! The windows in the hotel rooms are not sound-proof, and a club nearby plays loud music until 1:30 a.m. every night. The hotel stuff said it is what it is and they can't do anything about it. If you want to party until late night during your stay, choose this hotel. But if you need enough sleep, this isn't the place for you.
