Reviews
We found the breakfast very expensive (78€ for 2 adults 2 children). There was obviously a good variety of food but still didn’t justify the price. We went around the corner the next day and had breakfast at the cafe for half the price.
Overall we can recommend the hotel as rooms were clean, well situated for our stay and staff was friendly. Also bus stop was within a couple minutes walk.
1. Check in: This guy at check in was pretty arrogant. I came to the reception desk and he continued to type on his keyboard. Then after a minute he asked me "WHAT!?" which sounded more like "Why the f*"ç% are you bothering me?" Which took me a bit aback, I was expecting a much nicer approach from desk. I believe the guy, didn't have a chain to his leg, so if he doesn't like a job, he can quit straight away.
2. Cleaning: It was announced that room cleaning will be done, as hotel would like to be more environment friendly. Which is fine I guess, but as 4 star hotel, rooms should be cleaned every day and we didn't get any kind of compensation for not doing it. But what is much worse, we stayed in hotel from Sunday to Saturday and our room was cleaned once!!!! Managers preparing sheets for cleaning should be fired straight away, as they don't understand concept of "every second day" obviously. Even though the room was cleaned on Tuesday, the utilities were not filled up. So, on Friday I had to go to the front desk and ask for toilet paper!!!! How would you react staying in 4* hotel and you need to go downstairs and ask for toilet paper because somebody was not able to fill it in in 4 days???
3. Restaurant: Only for breakfast, which was decent, though we missed some thinks (to be able to boil eggs as I wish, not able to cope with many customers, waiting for new plates or glasses, ...). But we arrived one evening to the hotel and we were hungry, and it was announced that restaurant is closed, and we can have something to eat in a bar. Which in the end was not as bad as expected, but the number of choices was pretty limited.
4. Bar: My kids found a flyer were it was announce that in hotel bar we can have Kids Cocktail. They were quite excited but when I asked, lady at the bar said that she never heard about it. False advertisement?
5. Air conditioning: Not existent, which is not big deal in Hamburg, but we had a few nights where temperature was around 30C, and we struggled a bit. I reported it to the front desk the next day and the lady at the front desk said she would send someone to check it. But, then a few days later, when I talked to manager in regards cleaning of our room, I have asked here about the air con and she said, there is no complaint registered for air con in my room! So actually, two things, one is that air con is not working at all and second, front desk don't give a f”*ç% what guest’s problem are.
6. Dirty linens: Already when we arrived, I noticed on my pillow a yellowish stain, but it was old. So, I thought, alright hopefully they will change it in two days. I put a pillow stain side up, so it was immediately noticeable, but nobody cared ...
7. Trendy, but unpractical furniture. At first, we liked the interior of the rooms, but only until we tried to open a wardrobe or bar. It is squeaking a lot and loud. So loud, that other night I was woken up by the noise from other room ... Is it so much to ask to put some oil or bearings on moving parts?
f Hamburg. The quarrell you migh have is that the aircondition was sub par, particularly considering the hot days/evenings of July.
Breakfast was good, but crazy crowdy after 9 (first day), but almost empty pre-8.
We choose this place with friends to spend couple nights during Euro2024. Unfortunately it was a huge mistake.
The bed is comfortable - that’s all of the pros list.
No kettle to make coffee or tea in hotel room, even not a free bottle of water! You can choose water from minibar for 5€.
Coffee in the lobby at 12:00? Impossible… Main restaurant is closed after breakfast, and lobby bar starts at 15:00 so You can not get anything there. If You miss breakfast time You can be sure You won’t get anything here at the hotel. No way, everything is closed. Want to spend some time with group of friends in the lobby after a long day in the lobby? Forget about it!
They’re closing lobby bar before midnight so of course You can not get anything there, theremore if You bring Your own beer it’s also prohibited to sit there and drink it… Inside and outside.
They even closed patio and hide ashtrays to avoid guests sitting outside.
Rude staff told us „You can go to Your room ”.
So if You want to do here something more than just sleeping it is not a good place to choose. I really do not recommend that place. I travel worldwide and that’s a strangest hotel with strangest rules I’ve ever been. I’ll never back again.
Bus in front, Edeka walking distance and good breakfast at Cafe Irma.
