I’ve stayed at East Hotel Hamburg twice this year: the first time in May, which was wonderful. I loved the ambiance, the design, and especially the room with the large bathtub. Because of that great experience, I decided to book again in October through Navan (Expedia PartnerCentral) for a work trip, specifically selecting and paying for the Aqua Room.
However, upon arrival, I was given a completely different room without the features of the category I had booked. When I showed my confirmed reservation, which explicitly stated Aqua Room, the front desk informed me that the error had come from the booking partner and their system that there was nothing they could do unless I paid an additional €35 to get the room I had already booked. After a long day of travel, I reluctantly paid the extra fee, even though the mistake was clearly between the hotel and the partner, not mine. Since I had other work-related plans and didn’t want to waste more time at the reception, I decided to resolve the matter with the hotel later.
What disappointed me most was how the situation was handled afterward. Despite acknowledging that the issue came from their booking partner, management refused to refund the €35 and advised me to take it up with the external provider myself. This raises a serious question: how can any guest trust the hotel’s booking and notification system if, upon arrival, they can simply claim an error occurred and downgrade your room —> even when your company has already paid for a higher category?
For a hotel of this standard, I expected a much more professional and guest-focused resolution. It’s a beautiful property, but the lack of accountability and poor handling of this issue left a lasting negative impression. I travel to Hamburg several times a year for work, but I’ll be looking for a better alternative in the future.

Location is good, the reception service was good, didn’t use any other service like the bar as if was short visit.
The upgrade bid was not worth it, but then I never seen the room I would of got for cheaper also no view.

We just went for 1 night to get back to Denmark. and as usual it was a nice experience.
Nice room with good space and our dog was more than velcome also in the restaurant, so nice😊👍
We did get their Sushi and it was great 5*
And their Breakfast was very nice with fresh made eegs of different kinds and nice varity of greens and meat
we will come back soon

Our last experience was perfect so we came back but this time there were several issues with our room. Shower drain knob was broken. Shower head was clogged. Loud music going until at least 1am from the bar/courtyard could easily be heard through the walls. Televisions desperately need to be upgraded for use with Netflix and other apps (our only issue last time). And finally, we had a huge amount of luggage and were offered no assistance getting to our room which had several sets of stairs from the elevator.
On positive, the staff was friendly and the food was amazing. We’ll be back, but will be a bit more skeptical of our room quality next time.

Conveniently located in the heart of Hamburg, this is a premier hotel. The staff provides exceptional service. As a cashless establishment, it offers electric vehicle charging. While the bar boasts a modern design, it is pricey. The rooms are impeccably clean; however, given the room rate, the absence of a Nespresso coffee maker and bathrobes is noteworthy. Furthermore, the open-concept design lacks a distinct separation between the sleeping and bathroom areas.

At breakfast the server brought me a mini chocolate cake for my birthday. It was so nice 😊. Fantastic breakfast, by the way, and a lovely spa on the top floor. The design of the rooms and common areas is unique; delicious cocktails at the bar.
East Hotel is our standard base for a 2- night getaway each year at this time, and we really enjoy our 48 hours in the area. Can highly recommend the cafe around the corner called Playground Coffee. Super coffee and friendly service with a cozy, neighborhood feel. Korean, Indian, Vietnamese, Japanese, Mexican food all within walking distance.

The room are fantastic, nice design and modern style. The hotel, bar and restaurant are also with a nice design and style. Staff is friendly. The only suggestion that I can give is to increase the intensity of light in the room, the light are to soft that to looking inside my baggage I used the torch of my phone.

Lovely hotel if you're young and up to date with IT.
I found the room dark and cold.

Our stay started on a Monday. The hotel is very modern looking and had a lot of funk to it. The staff wasn't very friendly, day or night staff. You had to send an email to obtain an iron. While they responded quickly, it certainly wasn't convenient to find the website and then send an email to house services. Lastly, the lights in the room didn't work near the bed and the room was dark in general.
The food in the hotel was good but very expensive. However, the hotel was in a great location and close to everything.
I personally would not stay there again.
